The latest update (2023) to Geospatial Annual Report & Map Book 2022 has been released by The Nature Conservancy, and here are key facts and figures that excited us the most: Decline of Freshwater Species: Since 1970, there has been an average decline of 83% in freshwater species globally. Wetland Loss: The world has lost 64% of its wetlands since 1900. Free-Flowing Rivers: Only 37% of the world's longest rivers remain unimpeded and free-flowing. Freshwater Projects: Over 450 freshwater conservation projects are underway or completed across 36 countries. What's our takeaway as geospatial specialists: The report highlights that "Geospatial science helps us understand, manage, and restore the world's water resources for people and nature".
