About us

PPHI Sindh is a not-for-profit company set up under section 42 of The Companies Act 2017 (formerly The Companies Ordinance, 1984). Its NPO (Not for Profit Organisation) status has also been recognized by the Pakistan Centre of Philanthropist (PCP) which is a Government certified body for recognizing Not for Profit Organisations. It is governed by a Board of Directors comprising of seven seasoned members with vast and versatile experience. It is also represented by Secretaries to the Government of Sindh (Health, Finance, Planning & Development and Population Welfare) as Ex-Officio Members of the Board. PPHI Sindh is also registered with the Economic Affairs Division, Government of Pakistan as a local NGO entitled to receive foreign contributions. PPHI’s journey started from District Kashmore in 2007 and gradually expanded to 22 districts of Sindh. This responsibility was first handed over to the organization through Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) in 2007 under an MoU with the Government of Sindh (GoS). In 2013, the organization was registered with SECP (Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan). The objective of establishing the organization was to revitalize health services in rural Sindh. The immediate goal was to ensure that health facilities, handed over to PPHI, are fully functional, providing health services to all persons within their reach. A dedicated and competent management team was deployed which embarked with full vigor to achieve this objective. Within a short time, health facilities had a regular attendance of doctors and staff, as well as continuous medical supplies, were ensured. Owing to PPHl Sindh's efforts, health indicators, especially infant and maternal mortality have consistently improved. PPHI Sindh has focused on mother and child health and has continuously improved delivery coverage all over Sindh. It has set up round-the-clock maternity home facilities.

    Today, a significant milestone in the fight against tuberculosis (TB) was marked at Sindh Government Qatar Hospital, with the official handover of TB vans and AI-powered digital X-ray machines. The ceremony was organized by JSI Sindh and attended by prominent figures, including the CEO of PPHI Sindh, Mr. Javed Ali Jagirani. This initiative aims to enhance the province's capacity to combat TB, particularly in remote areas with limited access to healthcare facilities. The mobile TB vans, equipped with state-of-the-art AI-powered digital X-ray machines, are designed to improve early detection and facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment of TB patients across Sindh.

    On October 21, 2024, the CEO of PPHI Sindh chaired a significant Regional Monthly Review Meeting (MRM) at the RO/DO Conference Hall in Larkano. Attended by key regional leadership, including the COO, DHS-I, DHS-II, Regional Directors of RO III Larkano and RO IV Sukkur, district managers, and various technical officers, the meeting served as a comprehensive review of healthcare performance across the regions. Discussions covered several critical areas, beginning with a follow-up on the action points from the previous MRM. The team delved into the IDM for October 2024, and an in-depth analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the third quarter of the year, July through September 2024. Special attention was given to the performance of secondary care health facilities, ensuring they meet the expected standards of service delivery. Further, the meeting reviewed the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) observations from September 2024 and assessed the performance of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) to establish future directions for improving coverage and outcomes. The CEO emphasized the need to focus on strengthening the overall infrastructure of health facilities, ensuring the availability of essential human resources and medical supplies to support smooth operations. He also directed the teams to critically evaluate medicine consumption and maintain accurate records through rigorous monitoring and reporting, to ensure optimal use of resources. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all attendees to enhance healthcare services in the regions, striving to improve outcomes and ensure better access to quality healthcare for the communities.

    Karachi, October 18, 2024 - The PPHI Sindh team proudly inaugurated the newly renovated SGD Mullah Hussain Brohi Karachi-II and Skill Lab at Dumba Goth, Malir. The event was graced by the presence of the esteemed CEO PPHI Sindh, Mr. Javed Ali Jagirani, who was accompanied by the COO - Mr. Riaz Hussain Rahoojo, Senior Director of Monitoring - Mr. Israr Sodhar, Director Technical (1 & 2), District Managers, Deputy Directors of Trainings, and Deputy Director of Secondary Care. The renovation marks a significant improvement in the health facility and skill lab, which are vital for delivering essential healthcare services to the local community. During his visit, Mr. Javed Ali Jagirani conducted a thorough inspection of the facility and skill lab, offering praise for the exceptional efforts of the district teams. The CEO’s appreciation was especially extended to key team members, including Dr. Zakir - DHS-1, Dr. Misbah - DHS-II, Dr. Parwar - DD TCB, Dr. Falak - DD Secondary Care, and Dr. Rabia - DD MNCH, who played pivotal roles in the successful completion of the project. Additionally, the technical team at the head office was acknowledged for their continuous support and guidance throughout the renovation process. This initiative aligns with PPHI Sindh's commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for all. The new skill lab will also enhance training opportunities for healthcare professionals in the region.

    On October 10, 2024, PPHI Sindh CEO, Mr. Javed Ali Jagirani, accompanied by DHS Dr. Zakir Ali Punar, the Regional Director of RO V SBA, and district teams, conducted an extensive visit to six health facilities in Sanghar District (DO SGR A & B). The facilities visited included BHU Plus Jeeando Rind, BHU Khairo Kaloi, RHC Jaffar Khan Leghari, BHU Plus Rukan Burira, BHU Plus Landhi, and BHU Kumb Darhoon. During the visits, the CEO thoroughly inspected all areas of the facilities, including CCT records, housekeeping, ambulance services, dental services, and the emergency room (ER) at RHC. DHS Dr. Zakir evaluated the capacity of the staff, adherence to IPC protocols, availability of medicines, and overall service delivery. In response to the observations made during the visits, Mr. Javed Ali Jagirani directed teams to address these issues immediately and submit follow-up reports. He also instructed monitoring teams from both districts to conduct detailed inspections of health facilities to improve basic operations and enhance healthcare service delivery.

During the visit, the team inspected various areas of the facilities and thoroughly reviewed the health records. DHS Dr. Zakir assessed the staff's capacity at each facility, ensuring effective service delivery. The CEO made important observations regarding improvements needed in service delivery and issued directives for immediate rectification to ensure the smooth operation of health services across the district.

Minister Health appreciated the performance of PPHI and discussed various new ideas. In coming days PPHI Sindh will be given new responsibilities.

    USAID Mission Visit to RHC Bhan Saeedabad and BHU Talti – Jamshoro District A USAID Mission, along with the WFP Provincial Officer, visited RHC Bhan Saeedabad and BHU Talti in Jamshoro District. The team, led by Mr. Abdul Rehman, met with the District Manager, Administrator of RHC Bhan Saeedabad, and District Nutrition Coordinator (DNC), who briefed them on the healthcare services provided at the facilities. During the visit, Mr. Abdul Rehman toured the facilities, praised the quality of services by PPHI Sindh, and interviewed caretakers of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) children in the Outpatient Therapeutic Programs (OTPs). He also directed the WFP Provincial Head to ensure timely implementation of the Targeted Supplementary Feeding (TSF) Project and supply the required commodities.

Key stakeholders like the European Union, WHO, and UNICEF shared insights, while the International Rescue Committee (IRC) provided android tablets to PPHI's nutrition team, enhancing service delivery. This collaboration is a major step toward better nutrition services and data management across Sindh!
