We are pleased to announce our strategic collaboration with SINA Health, Education & Welfare Trust , funded by The Aga Khan University Hospital (Pakistan) on an evidence-based research initiative: "Urban PHC Policy Analysis and Evidence Generation." Our Global Health team— Aamir Abbas, Soha Randhawa and Imra Hemani—recently concluded a comprehensive two-day Inception workshop. During this Workshop, we refined our methodological framework to examine urban Primary Healthcare (PHC) systems in Pakistan. This research aims to enhance quality healthcare accessibility for underserved urban populations through rigorous policy analysis and stakeholder engagement. The study incorporates WHO operational framework assessment of urban PHC infrastructure and systematic stakeholder mapping across major cities. We extend our gratitude to AKUH's Community Health Sciences faculty for their expert guidance in strengthening our research methodology. POV: PHC Global and Centre for Arts-based Methodologies & Wellbeing (CFAW) presenting Dareecha and winning awards at the Internal Conference of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ICCAMH)! Picture this: a room full of changemakers in Kathmandu, all united for one cause - adolescent mental health. As we shared Dareecha, our arts-based intervention from Pakistan's Gilgit Baltistan, something powerful happened. The reality hit hard - only 0.4% of Pakistan's funds go to mental health. But here's where hope comes in. Art, awareness and screenings at a young age can bridge this gap. Through expressive practices, we reconnected with our inner children, reminding us why we do this work. When Dareecha won both 'Outstanding Poster' and 'Most Innovative' awards, it wasn't just about recognition. It proved that sometimes, the most powerful mental health interventions come through art and human connection. We believe in leaving no child behind! Through our project ‘Integrating Immunization and Essential Health Services in the Context of COVID Vaccination in Pakistan, we have introduced door-to-door immunization services in Quetta. Our mobile van goes around hard to reach and refusal areas to cover unvaccinated children. One of them was Mubeen, a 15-month-old boy, who had never received vaccination. Our team provided counselling sessions to his parents and highlighted the benefits of getting vaccinated. They were able to successfully vaccinate Mubeen, showcasing how effective communication can make a difference. "Cultivating Connection: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Building Collective Capacity", our team conducted a workshop covering art-based methodologies at the International Conference on Child and Adolescent Mental Health 2024 (ICCAMH 2024). The workshop started with a short mindfulness exercise to clear the headspace of the participants and establish a sense of emotional safety for them. They were then instructed to reflect on their adolescence and paint their emotions such as joy, adventure, grief, play, nurture, love, fear, and passion. The session concluded with the participants sharing their artwork with each other and reflections on the activity. The session was highly appreciated, and it was encouraged that such sessions should be more frequently conducted with adolescents.
