One of the mistakes I'm guilty of making in my design career..... Is only focusing on the UI part: 🔎How to make it look pretty 🔎How to make it look amazing 🔎How to make it look Wow and the list goes on, it's definitely not wrong to focus on that, what's wrong is focusing on only that, a pretty interface won't go far if it's a pain for your customers to understand and use. I was recently invited by MLSA FCIT to deliver an online session on some core UX principles and techniques, and that is where it made me realize that in the race to design pretty stuff we forget a very crucial part of any product - User Experience. In my short session my aim was to introduce them to UX by sharing some core and fundamental principles so that they can start designing from a UX point of view. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀: Signals to your customers that you’re flexible. They are paying for the service, they shouldn’t have to adjust around your schedule. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆: If you’re not sleeping, you should be available in 15 mins or less. This commitment can distinguish you from your competitors. - 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Instead of hiring specialists who can only perform one job, look for team members who can wear multiple hats, such as handling engineering, communication and project management. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀: Allows your agency to operate efficiently with minimum overheads. Your customers also appreciate working with smart multi-faceted people. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆: When hiring, seek out candidates who are decently skilled in multiple areas and willing to take on various responsibilities.
