Project "AUTOMATIC: Analysis of the relationship between the AUTOnoMic nervous system and cerebral AutoregulaTion using maChine learning approach" is financed by grant SONATA-18 National Science Center (UMO-2022/47/D/ST7/00229) This project aims to fill a gap in the methodology of analysing the temporal correlation between cerebral autoregulation and ANS taking into account the dynamic of this association. The main goals of the project can be summarised as follows: Aim 1. Clear-cut experimental evidence of the character of the association between autonomic response variables and cerebral autoregulation in healthy volunteers. Aim 2. The characteristic of the contemporaneous relationship between autonomic response variables and cerebral autoregulation using an adaptation of advanced time-series data analysis methods. Aim 3. A robust understanding of how cerebral autoregulation and ANS are interconnected in patients with intracranial pathologies

🧠BrainInsight: Decoding the ICP Waveform 🔬 Today we present a study analyzing the intracranial pressure #ICP waveform of traumatic brain injury #TBI patients. The aim is to identify patterns to improve the care of TBI patients in the future. This is done by determining the mean ICP and evaluating four specific waveform parameters. These four waveform parameters are Pulse Amplitude (AMP), High Frequency Centroid (HFC), Higher Harmonic Centroid (HHC) and Pulse Shape Index (PSI). To this end, we are delving deep into the world of biosignal analysis.🙌 📊 Your Key Learnings: 1️⃣ Correlations: AMP and PSI increase with mean ICP, suggesting a relationship between these factors. 📈 2️⃣ ICP Warning Sign: High frequency centroid (HFC) increases with ICP up to a certain point and then decreases significantly, which may be a warning sign of high intracranial pressure. ⚡ 3️⃣ Indicator of hypertension: The higher harmonic centroid (HHC) may be an early indicator of intracranial hypertension. 🔎 4️⃣ Mortality rate: Patients with worse outcome and high ICP were associated with higher levels of AMP, PSI and HFC.
