👏 What an incredible two days of inspiring discussions we just had at the Cities Mission Conference 2024! Two years into the EU Cities Mission, our journey has been immensely fruitful. This conference has allowed us to delve into a wide array of topics, including Climate City Contracts, the benefits of the EU Mission Label, stakeholder and citizen engagement, multi-level governance for climate action, policy challenges, unlocking climate finance for urban transformation, and cross-mission collaboration. We have reflected on our progress and the way forward with great enthusiasm. If there is one word to conclude this conference, it would be 'COLLABORATION'. Working hand in hand within teams in each city, with other #MissionCities in the same country, and with Mission Cities across Europe is key to overcome barriers to decarbonisation and inspire all European cities to embark on this journey to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent. A prime example of this is the signing today of the Development Declaration by Spanish and Swedish #MissionCities at the Cities Mission Conference, demonstrating their commitment to advancing the EU Cities Mission. The Declaration is supported by the Spanish, Swedish, and Romanian national platforms. Thank you for your invaluable insights and enthusiasm during these rich discussions! As part of the MultiFutures Project we will design, develop and apply an #AnticipatorySystemsMapping method 🗺 and a social simulation. 🎯 The aim is to engage a broad range of stakeholders (from the EU decision-makers to ordinary citizens on the ground) – in co-development and co-learning processes. The objective of MultiFutures Project is to assess the viability of economic paradigms beyond growth, such as #Degrowth, Doughnut Economics, and Sufficiency Economics, for Europe. By analyzing these paradigms' assumptions about human behavior, the project aims to identify new #policy goals and mechanisms for a post-growth #future.
