Switzerland's tallest residential towers Located in Dübendorf, Switzerland, the Three Point towers not only redefine the Swiss skyline with their heights of 103, 109 and 113 metres, but also set a milestone in education with the country's first high-rise primary school. Designed with the well-being of the residents in mind, Three Point's architectural concept moves away from traditional brutalist high-rise designs and instead offers an organically shaped building envelope. Each apartment has a balcony that is subtly hidden behind the building's undulating façade, promoting a blend of privacy and openness. A sculptural hub The newly opened SWR studio in Mannheim is a key media center for the region, designed with a distinctive sculptural cubature that shapes diverse interior and exterior spaces. Its inviting entrance areas and the "city balcony" overlooking the river offer a seamless link to the surrounding residential neighbourhood. Sustainable Living in Berlin In the green neighbourhood of Französisch Buchholz, Berlin, the "Kokoni One" residential quarter is taking shape. With a focus on eco-friendly living and adaptable housing, this project is designed by ZRS Architekten Ingenieure and implemented by Unternehmensgruppe Terhalle, who are both known for their forward-looking visions. Their architectural concept encourages community building, with clusters of up to 10 houses surrounding shared courtyards. A central orchard meadow fosters social interaction and provides ample green space. Prefabricated wood panel exterior walls filled with cellulose insulation ensure energy efficiency, while untreated wood cladding adds to the natural aesthetic. The low-energy design is further supported by a geothermal energy network and photovoltaic systems powering the heat pumps. For the glazing, as it needs to meet the same standards of sustainable living, a high-performance triple insulating glass with #SILVERSTAREN2plus was used, offering excellent thermal insulation with low U-values to ensure optimal energy efficiency throughout the year. © Paul Gerdes

Modern preservation The comprehensive renovation of the Schulanlage Lavater in Zürich-Enge, overseen by neff neumann architekten, exemplifies the careful balance between historical preservation and modern safety standards. Originally constructed in 1897, the school building requires thoughtful restoration that respects its architectural heritage while updating it to meet contemporary demands. A critical element of this renovation is the integration of #FIRESWISSFOAM, a high-performance fire-resistant glazing. This state-of-the-art building, designed by BA & P Borer Architektur & Partner, prioritizes sustainability with the use of green energy and efficient production processes, creating an ideal environment for both employees and innovation in research and development. 🏆 PRIXFORIX 2024: A Double Win 🏆 The PRIXFORIX, often referred to as the "Oscars of Façade Design," is a prestigious Swiss award that honors groundbreaking innovations in glass and metal façade design. This year, nearly 50 projects were in the competition, with Glas Trösch playing a key role in two of the top entries. 🥈 ILMER THIES Architekten claimed second place for their creative renovation of Müllerstrasse 16/20. By carefully dismantling and reusing materials, the iconic aluminum façade of this 1980s office building was not only preserved but beautifully incorporated into the modern redesign. We contributed glass elements and installed dynamic solar shading by eyrise® B.V. 🏅 Waldburger + Partner, in collaboration with StudioBoA and metal constructor Aepli Metallbau AG created a striking crystalline façade for Aepli’s new headquarters. Featuring a technically advanced second-skin façade, which we equipped with #SILVERSTARSELEKT insulating glass, the project earned the audience award.
