Empowering schools, one solar panel at a time! 🌞 Another meaningful CSR projects have been delivered to schools in Ukraine in partnership with Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation under the #Solar2Share initiative! Two schools in the Kyiv region - Bobryk Gymnasium and Nemyshaieve Lyceum No.2 - are now equipped with hybrid solar power stations and energy storage systems. At Bobryk Gymnasium, 93 solar panels, an inverter and 29.7 kWh of battery capacity form a 30 kW solar power plant. This system can keep the school running for up to four hours during power cuts. Meanwhile, Nemyshaieve Lyceum No. 2 has a 10 kW hybrid system with 30 solar panels, an inverter and a 26 kWh energy storage solution. This ensures that essential areas - such as the bomb shelter and first floor - have reliable power for up to four hours during blackouts. Solar PV #SPD (Surge Protective Device) is crucial for safeguarding electrical equipment in photovoltaic systems against surges. These surges can be caused by lightning strikes or voltage spikes from the grid. ⚡️ There are 2 main types of SPD:  Type 1⃣ SPD: The most powerful type, typically used at the main power entry points to protect against large surge currents like lightning strikes.  Type 2⃣ SPD: Shields against moderate surges and is typically used at distribution boards within the system. It's the most commonly used to protect PV systems. 💡 Remember that once this built-in protection engages, it burns out, so it’s best to use external, easily replaceable protection devices rather than relying solely on the inverter’s internal fuse. Tired of dealing with #batteries that don't last as long as the lifespan mentioned in the data sheet? Or do they charge fast and run out quickly? These issues all come down to the battery's #Crate, which dictates how fast you can charge and discharge the battery. Let’s dive in and demystify it.🔋 Imagine your battery is a tank filled with water. If you have a small 0.5’’ tap, the tank will take about 2 hours to drain completely—this is what we call a 0.5C rate in battery terms. Now, picture using a 1’’ tap instead; the tank drains in just one hour, which corresponds to a 1C rating. This is the speed at which your battery can be charged or discharged. Now, you might wonder, "Can I set my battery at any C-rate?" Technically, you can, but keep in mind that your warranty covers a specific number of cycles. Here’s the crucial bit: using the wrong C-rate can severely impact your battery's #lifespan, degrade its performance, and leave you powerless when you need energy the most. For instance, if a battery is rated for 6000 cycles at a 0.5C rate (as per the data sheet), charging or discharging it faster at a 1C rate can slash its life expectancy dramatically. 😬
