Informacje

Founded in 1918, we are a leading institution in the country in the field of neurobiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. Our scientists combine state-of-the-art research approaches with precise tools and bioinformatics to implement ambitious, interdisciplinary research projects. The mission of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS is to strive for excellence in basic research in the broad sense of biological sciences, with maintaining the highest quality of research in the creation and dissemination of knowledge that can be applied in the context of the society needs to improve the quality of life. The Institute carries out a mission by investing in human capital, modern research technology as well as national and international scientific cooperation. Strategic directions pursued by the Nencki Institute include the testing of the nervous system and the biological and molecular basis of diseases of civilization. Investing in human capital is achieved by hiring the best researchers and by assuring the optimum environment for the development of the research staff, from the PhD student to the professor, as well as administrative support in realization of research projects and providing a wide range of scientific cooperation for the research staff. Using the leading research technologies is implemented through purchase or construction of modern research equipment, providing access to a variety of research models, including transgenic animals, investing in the development of computer technologies, inventiveness stimulation and environmental laboratory formation which leads to the access to unique research equipment for the scientific community. Conducting scientific cooperation is realized by stimulating and supporting the soliciting of international research projects within the limits of bilateral agreements and programs of the European Union and the organization of the international workshops and conferences

📢 On October 8 and 9, 2024, the 𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐡𝐃 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 took place at the 𝐍𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐤𝐢 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞. 🔸This year’s event was organized by 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐤𝐚, Beata Siemiątkowska, Anna Beroun, Justyna 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐳, and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. Joanna Szczepanowska - Head of the Warsaw-4-PhD School. As in previous years, the Nencki Institute's International PhD Students Conference provided an exceptional platform for participants to learn about cutting-edge research projects, refine their presentation skills, and expand their professional networks. 🤩 ➡ During the two intense days of the Conference, attendees had the opportunity to listen to 15 long scientific presentations and 21 short scientific presentations. In addition, colleagues presented their research findings in the form of scientific posters, fostering vibrant discussions and collaborations. ✨A highlight of the event was the keynote speeches delivered by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. Bozena Kaminska-𝐊𝐚𝐜𝐳𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐤 (Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology, Nencki Institute) and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. Marcin Drag (Department of Chemical Biology and Bioimaging, Wrocław University of Science and Technology). Their insightful talks inspired participants and provided valuable perspectives on their respective fields. 🔹The conference also featured a special session, “Next Generation Scientists – Perspectives, Opportunities, and Challenges” where invited speakers shared their experiences and insights from outside academia. The speakers included 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐨 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐚 (University of Coimbra and Mitotag, Cantanhede, Portugal), 𝐃𝐫. Marta Klak, PhD (POLBIONICA, Warsaw, Poland), and Agata Qanadilo (AstraZeneca, Poland), offering unique perspectives on career paths and challenges in the industry. 👥 The event concluded with a social gathering, where students could form new connections and continue the stimulating conversations initiated during the scientific sessions. ✨ Each year, we recognize outstanding contributions made during the Conference. Here is the list of this year’s award winners: Long Talk Winners: 1. Elise Tse(Laboratory of Cell Biophysics) 2. Monika Dźwigońska(Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology) 3.
