Don't contract who oversell the capacity of problem solving. Hire the ones that did not have to manage big problems: they din't have big problems, because they are great problem preventers. And HSE consulting is exactly about tackling problems before they arise. It's cheaper, more efficient, and involves less pain.
Choosing the wrong people will destroy your business. All entrepreneurs know this. But fewer entrepreneurs give the same relevance to choosing the right HSE Consultants. HSE Consultants are not all the same. The truth is far from this. When it comes to choosing, you need to read the red flags. Here are the most dangerous red flags: - You don't understand them when they explain their job. It's not because their job is complicated; it's because they're bad communicators. - They elude questions about relevant experience in your industry. It's not because they have many; it's because they may have none. - They don't have up-to-date, internationally recognized certifications. Don't get confused by how many years of experience they have. If they are not up to date, they're not the right ones. - They talk a lot about the problems they fixed. It may sound funny, but you don't need problem solvers. You need problem preventers. Trust me, prevention is always cheaper than fixing a mess. - They are overly self-promotional. Those who know their value have no need to exaggerate in showing off. In our experience, people who perform best are likable, humble, up to date with the industry, and, most importantly: you always understand what they want to tell you.
