Cool new (to us) geoguessing tool:
TIL you can use the free chat GPT 3.5 to find all sorts of things in the real world by asking Chat GPT to write a script that you can use in the site: overpass-turbo.eu. Essentially it would look like this: 1. overpass turbo script to: find all the cafes in Bad Orb, Germany that have been around since at least 1986 2. the script: [out:json]; area["name"="Bad Orb"]->.searchArea; ( node["amenity"="cafe"](area.searchArea); way["amenity"="cafe"](area.searchArea); relation["amenity"="cafe"](area.searchArea); ); out; Have fun! Let me know if it worked for you :)

TIL we can all learn to play the piano without buying a keyboard and taking lessons, as long as we know how to touch type. :)
I can type, but playing piano is a different matter. However it's quite cool that there are a bunch of services that help one practice piano using a regular keyboard. Today I played the longest song in my life. Sure it was quite terrible and slow, but that's what practice is for! :)

How would you tackle this task?
How would you approach the following problem: Collect the names (first and last) of the 35,000,000 people living in pre-war Poland using a variety of public domain resources coupled with some statistical creativity and heavy use of Python. The goal is to create something akin to the "Titanic Dataset" but for the disaster that was WW2 in Poland. It would be useful for a variety of purposes including historical research, genealogy, etc. Reaching even the first 1 million names would be a struggle, but I think it's a good first goal post to reach. For example this morning, I've already managed to extract 23,400 unique names from a phone book dated to 1939. If you've tackled a similar problem let me know. :) Initial code/data: https://lnkd.in/dcUnvpit

What do you think about this LinkedIn feature? Is it promoting social interconnectedness or isolation and echo chamber thinking?
Linkedin has a nice new feature that basically says "plebs! your opinion is worth less than the opinion of my contacts, so as of this post, your only option is to help me spread my message to your contacts, but only as it is, your input is not needed!" source:

Marcin created a "generative art" program using just 24 lines of Vanilla JavaScript (no frameworks, no API calls).
Did you know you can roll your own "Art Generator" using just a few lines (24) of JavaScript? I created a program that generates these "abstract paintings": Run it locally with no plug-ins! Just download the source (https://lnkd.in/dwMaPjX4) and open index.html in your favorite browser:

Do you use Github copilot?
Using Github Copilot is very much like... using Black Mirror-branded tech. At first it seems really helpful, but then as your project grows in complexity, the benefits start to disappear as Copilot drags you deeper into a well out of whcih the only sensible escape is to start over...but that only leads to the same chaotic ending. I'm not convinced this really that great, yet. Do you use it?

Do you use Github Copilot?
I've finally decided to try out Github Copilot after a period of about 1 year of not using it, I guess there are a few new features. :) Do you use Github copilot? Does it help you get more work done faster? source: https://lnkd.in/dJ_X-Zwk
