The idea for this revolutionary solution was born during the PLGBC Green Building Summit, when Olga Malinkiewicz shared her vision of using perovskites. How does the #PDS system work? SMAY uses reversible fans that control and adjust the airflow, expelling it at appropriate locations in the building. 🌬️ These fans constantly monitor internal and external conditions, ensuring an optimal pressure difference between safe zones and the rest of the building. 📊 This ensures that the air in evacuation zones is always in balance, and the #system works efficiently regardless of the season or the height of the #building. 🌡️🏙️ The SMAY PDS system is scalable and can be used in both low-rise buildings and very high-rise buildings. 🏠🏢 In the case of high altitudes, simply add an additional unit in the central part of the building to effectively control the air flow. What challenges does the temperature difference in tall buildings create, and why is it crucial for fire safety? The stack effect occurs in tall buildings when the temperature difference between the inside and outside of a building causes air to flow. The taller the building, the greater the effect, causing air to rise in the winter and fall in the summer. This works on the principle of pressure differences – warm air is lighter and rises, while colder, heavier air flows down. In #buildings 🏢 over 60 metres high, this effect must be taken into account when designing smoke protection systems . When temperature differences are large, such as in winter, air moves quickly inside the building, which can affect the operation of doors and windows. In cold conditions, the stack effect can lead to large differences in airflow between the lower and upper floors of a building. ✔️ Building standards that once ignored this effect now require detailed analysis to better predict how air will move. This is especially important in the case of fires, where heat can spread faster up the building, which poses a safety risk.
