Scottish Volleyball Takes Historic Step: Entry into U20 Men’s CEV - Confédération Européenne de Volleyball European Championship Qualification Scottish Volleyball is pleased to announce a significant advancement in its history with the entry of a team into European Championship qualification for the first time. This milestone marks a pivotal moment for Scottish Volleyball, as the men’s U20 team prepares to enter a higher level of competition than ever before. Qualification for CEV European Championship 2024 necessitates a minimum participation of 40% of a zone to facilitate an official qualification group. We are pleased to confirm that this prerequisite has been met, resulting in the formation of a zonal qualification group for our men’s U20 team. Unfortunately, despite Scottish Volleyball’s willingness and readiness to enter both genders, the 40% quota for women was not met on this occasion. Margaret Ann Fleming MBE, CEO of Scottish Volleyball, expressed her satisfaction with this development: “Scottish Volleyball views this entry into the European Championship qualification as a notable achievement and one we are very much looking forward to. We are equally committed to ensuring equitable opportunities for our women’s program. While we faced challenges securing a zonal qualification group for our U20 women’s team on this occasion, we are diligently working towards generating interest during the SCA congress to facilitate women’s entry in the 2025 qualification.” This announcement underscores Scottish Volleyball’s steadfast commitment to fostering the growth and development of volleyball, encompassing both male and female athletes. Ally Jack, High-Performance Coach and Coaching Manager, also emphasised the significance of this opportunity: “Participation in European Championship qualification is an incredible opportunity for our young and talented squad. Undoubtedly, the journey ahead will present formidable challenges as we face strong opponents from within our zone. However, our players are determined to demonstrate their capabilities and bring recognition to Scotland.” The path ahead will demand dedication, rigorous training, and resilience. The men’s U20 team, comprised of Scottish Volleyball’s emerging talents, is poised to be put to the test. Detailed information on the men’s qualification process, including match schedules and venues, will be shared once officially received but it is anticipated that the tournament will occur in January 2024 with the team that qualifies taking their place in the last 16 in either Serbia or Greece in August 2024. As we look ahead to this exciting phase, Scottish Volleyball remains committed to creating a conducive environment for athlete growth and development. The organisation is dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence highlighted in our strategic plan. #WeAreVolleyball

Exciting times for Indian volleyball! While our current international rankings are promising, the journey to achieving even higher standings requires strategic investments. Initiatives like the Brahmaputra Volleyball League showcase the transformative power of grassroots efforts, paving the way for talent to emerge, even with limited resources. Teams like Calicut Heroes and Kochi Blue Spikers, contributing to Kerala's volleyball dominance, play a pivotal role in nurturing talent and elevating the level of competition. The success of local leagues and powerhouse teams not only ignites passion at the grassroots level but also serves as a stepping stone for players aspiring to compete on the international stage. Kudos to Shamnas VK and Safeer Beacon, the founders of Calicut Heroes for spearheading a remarkable initiative in our state and my home district. Their dedication to promoting volleyball not only elevates the sports scene but also instills a sense of pride and inspiration in the community. As Kerala continues to showcase its deep-rooted passion for volleyball, events like ISSK KERALA can become a catalyst for further development of volleyball in Kerala. The convergence of global sports enthusiasts, industry leaders, and visionaries at ISSK and Government of Kerala can lead to the exchange of ideas and strategies that will positively impact the training, infrastructure, and overall ecosystem for volleyball in the state. Focusing on grassroots development, enhancing training facilities, and fostering professional leagues will undoubtedly elevate our teams. The dream of Olympic participation is within reach, and with continued commitment, we can scale new heights in the world of volleyball. Let's rally behind these efforts and propel Indian volleyball to global acclaim! 🌐🏐 #VolleyballRankings #OlympicDreams #IndianSportsExcellence #calicutheroes #playspots #playspotsapp #Indiainolympics #issk #ISSKKerala
The Rise of Volleyball in India The dusty courts of villages, the thunderous cheers in stadiums, the roar of victory against strong teams – the story of volleyball in India is one of resilience, innovation, and a surge towards greatness. The sport's journey hasn't been without its bumps. The Pro Volleyball League (PVL), launched in 2019, was initially a partnership between Baseline Ventures and the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI). However, disagreements led to a legal battle, ultimately won by Baseline, paving the way for the independent Prime Volleyball League (PVL) in 2022. A Game Changer: This shift marks a significant difference. The Prime Volleyball League (PVL) empowers individual team owners, with profits reinvested in volleyball development. This financial autonomy is a game changer, fueling growth and innovation. Building on the success of the men's league, hoping that Baseline Ventures could also launch a dedicated women's PVL in the future. Remembering Jimmy George: India's volleyball scene once boasted a true star – Jimmy George, the first Indian professional player. Four of the eight George brothers also represented Kerala in the nationals. Jimmy died in a car accident in Italy on 30 November 1987, at the age of 32. His tragic passing left a void, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of fans and the Italian stadium named after him- PalaGeorge. Employment opportunities- Lot of players got jobs in Railway and military which helped to keep the Volleyball alive in India. Kerala's Powerhouse: Kerala continues to dominate, showcasing the state's deep-rooted passion for volleyball. It's no surprise that they're the only state with two teams- Kochi Blue Spikers and Calicut Heroes. Grassroots Revolution: Initiatives like the Brahmaputra Volleyball League in Assam are proving that success can bloom even with limited resources. This league was started by a former national captain, Abhijit Bhattacharya. With a 4v4 format (requiring fewer players and resources) and local community support, it's captivating thousands in villages, proving that volleyball belongs to everyone. Impact on Performance: Improved training facilities and practice opportunities, leading to India's historic victory over South Korea at the Asian Games in Sep 2023. Hosting the World: Last year, Bangalore proudly hosted the World Volleyball Club Championship, a testament to India's growing prowess and commitment to the sport. Rankings and Aspirations: While the Indian women's team currently ranks 62nd and the men's team 73rd internationally, their sights are set on bigger goals. Olympic participation remains a dream, and continued investment in grassroots development and professional leagues will be crucial in achieving it. 🎾SiamSportsPro uses the ITF’s International Tennis Number (ITN). Knowing your ITN Level helps you book the right sessions for your skill level. 💪 ✨This is a rating system from 10.3 to 1, ITN 10.3 being a new ‘STARTER’ to tennis and an ITN 1 being an ‘ELITE’ professional. The ITN is broken down into 5 levels; 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Starter (ITN 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3) This first level ensures that any player, whatever their level, can have an ITN. The ITN 10.1 to 10.3 categories will usually involve playing in a modified environment e.g. using the slower Red, Orange and Green balls, on a smaller court and / or using adapted rackets as appropriate. 🌟🌟🌟🌟Recreational (10 - 8) Recreational is the first level where players can rally and compete with yellow balls. Often in need of more practice to develop better understanding of where to stand and improve on their anticipation of situations. 🌟🌟🌟Intermediate (7 - 5) The middle level of the ITN normally has the highest quantity of players, and also a group of players varying technical abilities, but have similar competitive levels in match play. The development of all 4 pillars of tennis reminds of it's importance in this level (TECHNICAL, TACTICAL, PHYSICAL & MENTAL). 🌟🌟Advanced (4 - 3) This level is often where more experienced and physically fitter players find themselves. These are the best players at the club, and normally are competing on a weekly basis internally against other Advanced players from the club, and in local/national tournaments. 🌟Elite ( 1) The best of the best nationally and the top player/s of the club. Elite players are capable of holding an ITF/ATP/WTA ranking. 📖You can read more about ITN levels in this blog post on our website https://zurl.co/ktvL 😬If you are not sure what your level is, our coaches will gladly assist you. ❤️Like, share and comment below what is your ITN level 🎾 #siamsportspro #tennisacademy #tennisphuket #phukettennis #thailandtennis #phuketthailand #tennisplayer #tennislife #phukett #tennisacademythailand #tennislesson

Handball Coach & AI Enthusiast | Building US Handball National Teams | Focused on Athlete Development, Systems Building & High-Performance Environments | Podcast Host
🌅 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐫𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐂 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠❗ With our IHF coaching licenses in hand, we're now steering towards a transformative path in youth handball development in North and Central America. 🚀🤾♂️ 🚀 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Looking ahead, we're excited about the proposal of a specialized high-talent development camp. Planned for the alternate years of the IHF Trophy, this initiative aims to bring together the top talents and national team coaches from each country. It's a significant leap towards elevating the professional status of handball in North and Central America. 🔍 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗸𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: A pivotal realization struck me during our interactions with other coaches. I learned that every competing country has robust programs for young players, starting from the mini-handball age. This contrasts starkly with the US, where structured handball opportunities are rare before college age. This insight has sparked an even bigger desire to prioritize in 2024: to develop a similar nurturing infrastructure for young handball talents in the US. 🌐 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: More than personal milestones, this coaching course represents a pivotal step by the #IHF and #NACHC towards nurturing talent in North and Caribbean countries. By integrating coaching education into the IHF Trophy competition system, we're creating a more dynamic talent development framework. 💪 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲: This journey hasn't been just about acquiring new skills. It's been a testament to #dedication. Our team, including Borsos Szabo Edina, Pauline Marangoni, Mary Kreis, Christopher Meny, and myself, have made significant personal sacrifices. We've taken time off from our jobs, partially funded our team, and worked tirelessly without pay. This is our commitment to the growth of US handball. A heartfelt thanks to the IHF and especially Manel Mañas Cortés for orchestrating such an enriching program, and to our incredible team for their relentless passion and sacrifice. #Handball #USHandball #USATH #USATeamHandball #CoachingLicense #YouthDevelopment
