Dear Friends,   As some of you may know, the House Bill PC 1699, amending Act 273-2012, known as the “International Financial Center Regulatory Act,” and House Bill PC 1700, amending Act 52-1989, known as the “International Banking Center Regulatory Law,” was approved by the Honorable Governor of Puerto Rico last Friday, February 16, 2024.   These amendments significantly reform Act 273-2012 and Act 52-1989 and will have an impact on the obligations of international financial entities (“IFE”) and international banking entities (“IBE”), respectively. Attached please find a summary prepared by our Firm of certain fundamental provisions that will apply to IFEs and IBEs under these amendments, effective within ninety (90) days from the date of the approval.   We are available to discuss any questions or comments with you.
