Construction Manager

This role has an on-site work arrangement that will require working from various site locations in Puerto Rico including Coamo, Ponce, Caguas, and Peñuelas.

The Construction Manager is responsible for site supervision and construction management services on behalf of Convergent from mobilization through demobilization for energy storage, solar, or hybrid projects. Duties include general site supervision and day-to-day contract execution management of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), high voltage (HV), and other major contractors and vendors. The Construction Manager will audit and verify the quality assurance functions and documentation performed on-site for the project's benefit through construction and commissioning completion until the final turnover of the facility to the owner.

The Construction Manager will act on behalf of Convergent to monitor safety and all aspects of the project execution, support landowner relations, and act as a project liaison for local authorities. The Construction Manager will attend regular (and non-scheduled) meetings and write frequent electronic communications (reports). Integral to this is the ability to communicate (written and verbal) with all internal and external stakeholders clearly, efficiently, and diplomatically to positively drive project completion.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor site construction on-site day-to-day
  • Monitor and travel between multiple active solar and energy storage construction sites in Puerto Rico
  • Monitor/participate in contractor project meetings. Communicate project status, work closely in small teams, and collaborate effectively to meet project deliverables.
  • Perform construction progress inspections at sites before, during and after active construction for quality control and progress reporting purposes.
  • Change Management - Create and maintain a risk register for the projects to identify, document, quantify, and track potential change orders.
  • Review contractor's project schedules to ensure understanding of Critical Path items to realize project success.
  • Report regularly to the Project Manager the status of all construction projects and upcoming milestones.
  • Responsible for reviewing and auditing contractor's QA/QC records.
  • Responsible for reviewing and auditing contractor safety procedures at the job site.
  • Represent the organization professionally with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and local officials.
  • If required in emergency, direct in-field construction, and subcontracted resources, including labor, sub-contractors, rental equipment, issued equipment, logistics, etc.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in construction.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant solar, energy storage, or electrical contractor experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (English)
  • Ability to work legally in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive. Insurable driving record.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including hard hats, boots, gloves, vests, and eye protection.
  • Drug and alcohol screening may be required on a random basis and/or after being involved in any safety incidents.
  • See and hear well with or without correction to avoid safety hazards to themselves and others.
  • Use a computer, type, and do paperwork associated with job functions.
  • Commitment to Safety in the workplace (OSHA and other federal, state, and local practices)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills (English and Spanish)
  • Electrical License
  • Experience mentoring junior employees.
  • Experience in multi-disciplined, heavy civil and electrical construction projects.
  • Experience with transmission line construction.
  • OSHA 30-hour course certificate

Base Salary Range: $95,000- $115,000; Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
