Apple's M3 iMac was first announced on October 30, 2023 during the company's "Scary Fast" keynote. The 24-inch all-in-one desktop features a 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels and over a billion colors.
Equipped with Apple's M3 chip with either an 8-core or a 10-core GPU, the M3 is up to twice as fast as the prior generation with M1, according to Apple. The Late 2023 iMac supports hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, and the M3 chip has a 16-core Neural Engine for enhanced machine learning and video performance. Rounding out the updated features is an upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for easy connectivity to your ISP and peripherals.
Apple retained the starting $1,299 price for the M3 iMac line, matching the last generation of M1 models. Exclusive iMac deals are available in this Price Guide, though, helping customers save money on every configuration. With options for up to 24GB of unified memory and up to 2TB in storage, the desktop can be configured to fit your needs without sacrificing the savings.
Apple's 2023 update to the 24-inch iMac gives a nice performance bump to the all-in-one Mac, but the M3 hardware is better suited to those moving from Intel than for users with the M1 version.
