Apple launched a line of M3-powered laptops in late 2023 with the release of the 14-inch and 16-inch M3 MacBook Pro. The 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro is available in two colors, Space Gray and Silver, and it starts at a price point of $1,599. The base model has an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU and 100GB/s memory bandwidth. Unified memory can be configured to 8GB, 16GB, or 24GB, and the SSD storage starts at 512GB but can be configured up to 1TB and 2TB for those needing more room for files and data. The battery life is fairly substantial with up to 22 hours of video playback and up to 15 hours when surfing the web.
The M3 MacBook Pro is equipped with a variety of ports including an SDXC card slot, HDMI port, 3.5mm headphone jack, a MagSafe 3 port, and two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports, which can be used for charging, connecting an external display, or performing data transfers of up to 40GB/s. The display is a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR panel with a 3024x1964 resolution, capable of supporting up to one billion colors, and can be run at the same time as one external display with 6k resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate or a 4k resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. The M3 MacBook Pro can also support Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, and comes with a myriad of built-in apps and accessibility features.

The new M3 14-inch MacBook Pro is a better bargain than the outgoing 13-inch MacBook Pro, on paper. But, given where it sits on Apple's Mac ladder, it's hard to recommend to everybody.
