Imposter Syndrome affects most of us at one point in our lives. I aim to ask my client to dig around and find the emotion that is triggering them. Once they source the core emotion, they can begin to direct their internal messaging to a new space and create new stories for themselves.

One of the most effective ways of dealing with imposter syndrome is to interrogate the feeling that arises with this. The feeling will lead you to the source memory. The frozen energy attached to that memory can then be cleared - the memory will remain but its power will be lost.

Imposter syndrome often stems from comparing yourself to others rather than focusing on your own journey. Remember, comparison is a thief of joy. To navigate this, shift your focus from what others are doing to what you're passionate about and how you can contribute uniquely. Embrace your strengths and align your work with your values and purpose. Your authenticity and dedication are your greatest assets. By staying true to your purpose and investing in your growth, you build confidence and make a meaningful impact, regardless of how others measure success.

When a client struggles with imposter syndrome and comparison, start by helping them recognize their own unique strengths and achievements. Encourage them to focus on their journey instead of comparing themselves to others. Remind them that everyone’s path is different, and success looks different for everyone. Work on shifting their mindset from comparison to self-appreciation—celebrate their wins, no matter how small. Help them reframe challenges as opportunities for growth, not proof of inadequacy. By reinforcing their value and guiding them to see their progress, you can help them build confidence and quiet those nagging doubts.
-
There are several sound reasons why comparison to others is not a productive exercise. 1. It is important to recognise that every individual has their own unique set of strengths and weaknesses. When making comparisons between individuals, it is often the case that the data available is insufficient to make an accurate assessment. 2. When an individual's focus is primarily on others, there is less attention paid to their own progress. 3. When we compare our current performance to past results, we can gain insights and motivation. However, when we engage in comparisons and competitions with others, it can lead to demotivation or arrogance, hindering further development and growth.
