Start with a solid understanding of the ecosystem you're working in, including areas that are ripe for collaboration with others or those to stay away from since others have them well-covered. Build in time for collaboration and stay focused on longer-term metrics for measuring success and impact at the same time you celebrate the short-term wins. One of the main things I do in my projects to ensure the long-term sustainability of social impact projects, is to take a bottom-up approach throughout the project cycle. (this is sooo important) Community buy-in is crucial, as is tapping into the local knowledge and skills. Equally important is identifying key stakeholders and forming partnerships with organizations that share similar goals and mandates. Lastly, securing the support of “community gatekeepers”and influential figures can make a significant difference in the project’s success. Its important that we see the community as partners & participants in the projects and not as beneficiaries, this will certainly aid in the sustainability aspect.

To ensure long-term sustainability in social impact projects, it's crucial to encourage a strong sense of ownership within the community by involving them at every stage of the project. This starts with clearly defining the problem in a way that addresses local needs, followed by a thorough risk assessment to identify challenges and mitigation. Choosing the right location is also important, as it affects access, resource availability, and how relevant the project is to the community. By working closely with local stakeholders.
