🌊 🌿 Still on numerical modeling developments on the AQUABREAK project, our team from University of Stavanger is assessing the requirements for the structural components of the seaweed aquaculture of the AQUABREAK solution. This Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) study will allow us to appropriately design the floaters system to sustain the seaweed longlines and withstand high energy conditions. 🌍🌿 The design of these components includes selecting materials with low ecological footprints for optimized design configurations and maximum efficiency. 🌊 Numerical modeling is ongoing on the AQUABREAK project 🌊 🌊 🌿 Our team from University of Stavanger is currently performing numerical modeling works with Open Foam model to assess wave loads on the AQUABREAK solution. 🌊 Updates on the AQUABREAK Physical Experiments🌿 Physical experiments on the Wave Flume of Departamento de Engenharia Civil da FEUP, were conducted by our team from ICS FEUP to investigate Seaweed's Potential for Coastal Protection. 🌊 🌿 Initial model results highlight the capability of seaweed in attenuating wave energy, with findings indicating potential reductions of up to 30%. These outcomes are essential in redefining how we approach coastal resilience and sustainability. 🌊 🌿 This combination of seaweed aquaculture and coastal protection holds great promise for addressing the pressing challenges faced by our coastlines.
