From February 8th to 14th, the CCG/ZGDV Institute participated in a business mission to Mexico organized by the PRODUTECH Cluster. This initiative carried out in the context of the PRODUTECH R3 Mobilizing Agenda, aimed to promote the national manufacturing industry and the innovative solutions it develops, together with a wide range of potential Mexican partners. The CCG/ZGDV Institute's participation in this mission reinforces its commitment to internationalization and the promotion of advanced technological solutions, as well as technical and scientific skills, which it has developed in close collaboration with national industry. It also allowed us to contribute, as a member, to PRODUTECH's strategy to internationalize the modernization and competitiveness of the manufacturing industry in Portugal in destinations with great potential, such as Mexico.

CCG/ZGDV Institute develops advanced solutions for the project Health from Portugal. The CCG/ZGDV Institute is part of the PRR – HfPT (Health from Portugal) agenda, which aims to develop a set of advanced solutions for the health sector. CCG/ZGDV Institute participates in 10 PPS (Products, Processes and Services) with skills related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Vision and Image Processing, and Usability. Digital prototypes are expected to be made available during 2025, namely for the detection of neoplasms and lung cancer, the management of bone surgeries through tools based on remote assistance to surgical procedures and training, remote physical monitoring and recovery based on gamification, and the integration, interpretation, and sharing of data. These are currently some projects in which CCG/ZGDV Institute is involved. Know more on our website here: https://bit.ly/41uFgGO

CCG/ZGDV Institute has been developing research and innovation projects in artificial intelligence applied to the health sector by developing medical image processing tools using Deep Learning algorithms. Segmentation is the process of dividing a medical image into multiple regions that may or may not belong to the same class. Typically, the criteria for this separation include color, texture, shape, or other more complex factors. A White Paper has been published with the participation of several CCG/ZGDV Institute researchers from the Human-Technology Interaction and Robotics (HTIR) and Software Engineering and Data Intelligence (EPMQ) departments. This white paper, contributed by Dário Machado, Emanuel Sousa, Frederico Pereira, João Sousa, and Pedro Pereira, appears as part of a European candidacy in which the CCG/ZGDV Institute participated with several European partners. The White paper explores the potential of Hybrid Intelligence, which combines human intelligence and artificial intelligence, to transform mobility systems (e.g., autonomous driving), providing them with predictive capabilities instead of the current reactive capabilities, optimizing issues such as safety, efficiency and environmental impact. In addition to technological issues, user acceptance issues, economic opportunities and improvements in quality of life are addressed.
