Ajudo os media tradicionais a crescer nas redes sociais | Co-fundador @Framedrop.ai | 🔜 Web Summit Lisbon & Slush (Helsinki)

News websites are relying more and more on social media for traffic. 📱 You can see below the top 10 biggest accounts ranked by followers as well as their main website's monthly traffic and the respective % coming from social. Pretty crazy to see that for Daily Mail, 13% of the 1297M monthly visitors come from social. -> That's 169M visits in a month from social alone 🔥 And if I had to guess, video-first platforms are responsible for a significant part of this traffic. They have multiple viral videos with 100M+ views as well as other news videos constantly hitting 5-20M views. Traditional media has a lot of room to grow on social media, drive web traffic and monetize it.

If you are a traditional media company and you want to win on social media, you need to publish videos daily 💪 We have a client who is all in on growing their online presence to drive traffic to their website and newspaper articles. Then, I looked at their competitors and saw they were very behind. Our client: - 250k followers on TikTok - 220k followers on IG - Publishes 3-4 videos per day - 29M monthly website visits Their main competitor: - 7k followers on TikTok - 84k followers on IG - Last video published 5d ago - 11M monthly website visits These are two direct competitors, originally from traditional media (newspapers) creating and publishing the same kind of content. One is big on video, publishes daily and has 3x the web traffic. The other is still not there yet. This is exactly why we know Framedrop.ai can add a lot of value to help media companies be more efficient and publish video content more often. My DMs are open if you want to chat!

In 2016, I joined the first Web Summit in Lisbon as a volunteer, soaking up insights and wondering if I’d one day stand there as a startup founder. Flash forward to 2024, I’m back as a founder of Framedrop.ai. The goals may be different, but the excitement is just the same. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about making the most of events like these. So, it was a privilege to share some of those insights on preparing for Web Summit at the 𝗥𝟮𝗪𝗦 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗱𝗲. Big thanks to Startup Portugal, Madalena Cardoso and Francisco Poças for the invite! Reflecting on how much has changed since those volunteer days, it feels full circle. Whether you’re attending as a volunteer, founder, media or simply to soak up the experience, I’d love to connect.

This is what happens when you post the same video as your competitors but you don't use Framedrop.ai 😅 Funny story: One of our clients (a sports news media company) posted this short video a few weeks ago and added custom captions to it. And it did pretty well. The video was made by the football club so no news channel owns it, anyone can publish it. After a couple of weeks, we see the same video being posted by another sports news account BUT they are not using Framedrop (yet 😉). For the same exact video, the result was: ✅ Our client's post: 50k views (with captions) ❌ The other post: 9k views (without captions) Still underestimate the importance of captions? Don't. Send me a message and I'll help your editorial team get started with Framedrop 💪

We've made the decision to fully focus on helping traditional media outlets win on social media. From all the conversations I've had, it's crystal clear Framedrop.ai can add immense value to the editorial teams in traditional media outlets. We've already signed major household names in Portugal and we're expanding abroad. This is the thesis behind it: 𝟭) 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 Think about TV shows, interviews, investigational pieces, live reporting, etc. All of this video content is made for TV but not for social media. 𝟮) 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 Traditional media has been suffering from the shift to the online and editorial teams got smaller and smaller. They can't leverage all existing content and repurpose it for social media fast and efficiently enough. 𝟯) 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 The only way to survive is to adapt, go digital and bet big on growing on socials to conquer people again. For this, traditional media is using Framedrop.ai to repurpose, edit and distribute their original content on their social media channels. And it's working! We have amazing results already and would love to help more media outlets become more efficient with the use of AI and our tools. Reach out to me if this is interesting! Would love to help.

A TV channel with an active presence on social media is a no brainer in today's world. 1) Tons of video content produced daily ⬇️ 2) Most of the content is news-related ⬇️ 3) People love consuming news online It's the classic principle of "give people what they want and meet them where they are". People wants news on social media. Period. But does this mean they'll watch less TV or check your website less often? Does it mean you'll start relying on ads payments from social media platforms? ❌ Not necessarily. What we are seeing most of our clients do at @framedrop.ai is growing their social media accounts BUT using them to drive: 1) 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 - when people are on TV, they are more likely to watch their TV channel vs other channels. 2) 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 - people visit the channel's website to read more about a particular topic they saw on a video and the channel monetizes it via ads or a paywall. If you check some of the most well-known TV channels accounts on social media, some are already pretty big!

What an epic Team Retreat in beautiful Baleal with the Framedrop.ai crew! 🌊 In Q3 2024 alone: - The team grew from 6 to 10 people. - We reached the 100,000 users milestone. As a remote-first team, we know how valuable it is to come together IRL. Our Field Trips (1-day work sessions in different cities) keep us connected throughout the year, but our retreats take it up a notch. Here’s how it went: 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 We dove into our Q3 recap and set the North Star for the months ahead. You guessed it, Media industry! The highlight? A fireside chat with Andre Albuquerque, who shared his journey and some wisdom-packed stories. Huge thanks for the inspo! 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮 Time to unwind a little! We hit the water for some kayaking, played board games, chilled by the pool, and, yes, there may have been a bit of sangria and other cocktails.🍹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯 Finished off with a laid-back walk around Baleal Island, amazing food and a final debrief to reflect on everything we’ve achieved. Working remotely keeps us flexible, but these moments together are what make it real. Already excited for the next one! JD Costa Renato Vaz Catarina Ferreira Başak E. We have a big newspaper brand generating 20,000s of views per clip on their social media channels. Here's how they leverage digital to drive more sales: 𝟭) 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 🤑 As a traditional newspaper, they still sell physical prints so they make money on that and on the ads sold in each edition. They also have a TV channel complementing the newspaper which drives revenue through ad slots. 𝟮) 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 📲 They are investing heavily in repurposing their newspaper, website and and TV content into social media content. The goal is to increase the brand's reach and drive traffic from social to their website, as well as increase awareness to their TV channel and newspaper. Example: a short clip about a popular interview can be used as a teaser for people to go watch the full video on their website. 𝟯) 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 Something very smart they're doing is seeing what videos go viral on social and then do deep-dives on the topic in the paper. This way, they know they will sell more papers and can even predict the sales based on how well the content did on social media. I'm been watching them transforming their business and it's awesome to be able to help them stay relevant and innovate. A good example of how traditional media can adapt and grow in the digital world.
