Material selection can completely alter the way we perceive a building. Here's the Grand Stadium of Rabat rendered three ways. When envisioned in perforated metal, the structure assumes a high-tech, industrial feel, with patterns creating a play of light and shadow that imparts a lively, kinetic sensation. This conveys an image of modernity and a forward-thinking spirit. On the other hand, the vernacular sandstone offers a warm, organic character that speaks of heritage and solidity, instilling a feeling of enduring strength and stability. Thirdly, laminated wood offers a sustainable, natural aesthetic, infusing the building with a welcoming warmth and community-focused experience. Each material uniquely colours the emotional and visual narrative of the stadium. Which would you choose? BLUE in its architectural manifestation represents depth and wisdom. In our work, we feel that it imbues renderings with a sense of sophistication and intellectual depth, inviting viewers to a visual contemplation. Where silver whispers and orange shouts (both important aspects of our identity), blue converses, eliciting a dialogue with the viewer. When applied with precision, it elevates a simple model to a compelling narrative, transforming spaces into experiences. For the exterior shots of the Cultural Center in Shanghai, we set its sweeping design against the dark canvases of the oncoming night. Blue becomes the architect’s storyteller, its thoughtful hues elevating the Center and inviting the city in for a culture affair! SILVER is raw, balanced, timeless. Silver embodies a quiet spectrum of possibilities. Silver is a manifesto of the architectural lexicon. While we embrace a colourful array – a pop of yellow, a dash of red, a wash of sky blue – we too revere this cornerstone for austerity and sleek modernism, sophistication without ostentation. Silver welcomes the viewer to engage deeper with form, texture, and the interplay of light. It frames and elevates geometry, bringing life to the inanimate, much like this housing complex by IMCOLLECTIVE and PURA. ORANGE invigorates a space with warmth and energy! It’s a hue with psychological impact that’s not lost on us, and we employ it to craft environments that stimulate interaction and inspire innovation. It was a natural addition to the palette choice for our renderings of the Cultural Center in Shanghai. Portrayed in a golden glow, the building transforms into an icon, a shining beacon, set apart from the city fabric beyond. For more details on the project, visit our brand new website! House LH 88 came with the pleasant requisite of a façade created from concrete prefab blocks – of course, with a sublime touch that only Francisco Tojal could envision. The design therefore carries an aesthetic of stark minimalism and purity of form. Incorporating verdant elements across the balconies, the project as a whole seeks a seamlessness with nature. This architectural philosophy underscores a commitment to both environmental symbiosis and the pursuit of unadorned, clean geometries that resonate with the essence of modernity and contemporary residential design in Portugal. The final rendering! And two drafts. Can you spot the subtle changes? We aim to include as much data as possible into our early drafts – materials, model, lighting, objects, etc. This way, the client can interact from the start with a far more developed work, a process which we find extremely productive. #3dvisualization #interiordesign #competitiondesign Competition: Parque Picoutos Housing Client: MASSLAB Year: 2023

Deeply inspired by the work of Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi, LMJC Architects’s proposal for the SENAC Technical and Creative School competition is one of our favourites in the recent archives. Modernist ramps and open circulation define a rigid volume bound by wood scaffolding, offset by a playful and ethereal canopy. Amongst the many professions that Bo Bardi represented beyond architecture was scenography – the art of creating performance environments. She often blended the two worlds together as seen within the designs of the Oficina Teatro (1984) where its unorthodox shape and layout intensified the theatrical experience. This design here pays homage to such masters of the past. #3dvisualization #architecturalrendering #competitiondesign #linabobardi Competition: Senac Bahia Client: LMJC Architects Year: 2023
