What a day! Test Society has been a long-time dream, and yesterday, it became a reality. For years, I’ve wanted to organize a nonprofit, full-day conference to bring value to the QA community and give back to the very people who have inspired and taught me so much over the years. I cannot thank enough this incredible group that made it all possible: Maik Nogens , Rogério Castro , Nuno Matos , Nuno Ramos and Pedro Magalhães. They worked tirelessly, challenged themselves (and the timelines!), and made this event a success. Beyond being great professionals, they’ve shown they are also truly amazing human beings. Thank you for making this dream a reality and for your dedication to QA community. Here’s to the next chapter! 🙌 #testsociety #qa

"Brains are weird, neat, squishy things. Mine has been diagnosed with things like ADHD, anxiety, and depression, with a list of common behaviors that go along with it. To some people, this might sound like terrible news. But, I have a different take on my particular collection of mental conditions. I can use pieces of my experience living with them, and turn them into useful tools. When looking at the challenges that I face as a software tester, I want to present you with some examples of how neurodivergence can be harnessed to work for me - instead of against me. Come listen to these stories of how these mental powers help boost my curiosity, empathy, and effectiveness. You may just learn something about your own brain along the way." says ✨Karen T. Join us in this year's conference to learn more about neurodivergence in testing and learn more about this hugely important topic! #neurodivergence #testing #qa #qualityassurance #conference #TestSociety

The eternal QA dilemma: How detailed should we write our manual test cases? I was taught that we should write every important detail so that even a newcomer or someone outside the team could use them. But let’s be honest—has anyone ever had the luck of an outsider running their test cases? I wish I could catch that kind of break, with people outside the team volunteering to do manual testing for free! 😅 Sure, transforming test cases into project documentation sounds great, but it raises some questions: - Do we really need to duplicate documentation? We’re supposed to have project docs from the PM, right? Even if we don’t, should Test Cases really play the role of documentation? - How feasible is it to keep everything up to date? It’s incredibly time-consuming, even for simpler projects. Now, imagine doing that for “real-life” projects. It means spending a lot of team time on tedious manual work that doesn’t directly contribute to the company’s success. Over the years, I’ve leaned more towards checklist-based test cases. In some instances, I delete the details of those that are automated and just keep a note that a specific flow is automated across different test levels—for the sake of coverage overview and clarity. So, the big question: How detailed should we keep our manual test suite? What’s your approach? #testing #qa #quality #qualityassurance #testcases #manualtesting

Mobile testing is an art in itself—and undoubtedly one of the top in-demand skills! Yet, finding a QA professional with mobile experience remains a challenge. But why? In 2023, annual app spending reached a staggering 171 billion U.S. dollars, and global app downloads hit 257 billion, despite a modest one percent year-over-year increase. Users check their phones once every 6 minutes and typically have around 80 apps installed. What does this tell us? Mobile testing is not just important—it’s essential. Mobile testing presents unique challenges. Automation for mobile is complex, and manual testing is even more intricate. You can’t fully test mobile apps while sitting at a desk or in a sterile lab environment. Consider this: usability, reliability, and performance are even more critical on mobile devices. Testing must account for real-world conditions—receiving calls, rotating the device, checking behavior under different weather conditions or altitudes, changing mobile providers while crossing borders, interacting with the camera, gyroscope, GPS, Face ID and fingerprint unlocking. There’s so much more to mobile testing than meets the eye. So, are you up for mastering this art? #testing #qa #quality #qualityassurance #mobile #mobiletesting

If you had a magic QA wand to enhance your quality assurance efforts, what would you wish for? The QA discussions often circle around three main topics: - AI: Will it help us or replace us? - Automation: The endless debates—Playwright vs. Selenium, and beyond. - Quality Metrics: How do we measure success? Bug reports, coverage achieved, etc. But here's something I think we can learn from quality assurance in other industries, particularly manufacturing: Regardless of how we approach quality, it’s essential to first align on "What is quality?" among all stakeholders. Each stakeholder sees quality differently: For PRODUCT Teams it's maybe about having all planned features implemented without bugs, for BUSINESS Teams it might be about building the right thing quickly enough to stay ahead of competitors, for DEVELOPERS it can be about avoiding constant rework of code written months ago. If I had a magic wand, my first wish would be for a clear, shared understanding of "What is quality?" across our organization, mapping that out to concrete actions for each department. Only then can we truly drive quality in a meaningful way. Of course, if I could ask for more than one thing, I’d probably wish for something to support my team and improve our tooling—just like most of us would. So, what would you ask for? #qa #quality #testing #qualityassurance
