The summer festival season is coming to an end and last weekend thousands of festival-goers flocked to the CA Vilar de Mouros Festival. SIBS was the payment partner with #MBWAY and has analysed some of the results from the four days of the festival. The results of #SIBSANALYTICS showed that: 👉 A total of 21,000 transactions were made by festival-goers who spent an average of 28 euros per card; 👉 28% of payments were made with #MBWAY and 26% of these were made with the Eco option active; 👉 89% of the payments were made with Portuguese cards; 👉 The top 5 foreign nationalities were Spain, France, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Belgium. 🔐 Portugal is the 2nd country in Europe with the lowest fraud rates The European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Banking Authority (EBA) have released the Payment Fraud Report 2024, which assessed payment fraud in the European Economic Area (EEA). Portugal continues to be one of the safest countries in Europe regarding card payments fraud. Other findings on this report, regarding card fraud, in the first half of 2023: 👉 Card fraud using cards issued in the EU/EEA amounted to EUR 633 million 👉 Remote card payment fraud accounted for 82% of the value of card fraud 👉 Fraud in card payments, cash withdrawals and e-money transactions was almost exclusively due to the issuance of payment orders by the fraudster 👉 PSPs reported losses of EUR 537 million for card payments with cards issued in the EU/EEA At SIBS, we are committed to combat payment fraud. Today, SIBS gathered some of the companies that are part of the Partners Program for an exclusive breakfast at Nova SBE! 🤝 The meeting started with a warm welcome from Madalena Cascais Tomé, SIBS's CEO, and was focused on the potential for joint development of new solutions, with an emphasis on international projects.
