Prazo ainda a correr. Na ERSAR (Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços de Águas e Resíduos) temos muito gosto em receber estagiários das mais diferentes áreas. Integrar o estágio numa entidade reguladora como parte da formação académica e pessoal é muito bom para quem faz o estágio (que tem uma experiência única e abre horizontes); para quem recebe o estagiário (há lá melhor do que ajudar alguém a ganhar conhecimento para ser mais livre e autónomo?); para a sociedade em geral (a proximidade das pessoas e dos jovens às instituições é muito importante para a construção de uma sociedade mais colaborativa e equitativa). As a newbie on LinkedIn exploring programs to enroll in, I came across Hilton Top Solicitors mentorship post few days ago. Unfortunately, I discovered that the registration deadline had already passed. Nonetheless I decided to take a chance by applying and as God would have it, I attended the first session yesterday! Deborah Enyone Oni (LLB. BL. LLM. NIM) I am truly grateful for this opportunity. Hilton Top Solicitors Female Virtual Internship/Mentorship Program (HTSFVIMP) 8.0 is an ALL FEMALE Virtual Mentorship Program organized by Hilton Top Solicitors whose 8th Edition theme is “Sustainable Innovation in the Digital Economy: Addressing Legal and Regulatory Hurdles” Today’s session focused on onboarding of mentees and introduction of some of the Mentors. The moderator gave us background of the program, what to expect from it as well as her testimony on having her work published in an international journal. Deborah Enyone Oni (LLB. BL. LLM. NIM) the founder of Hilton Top Solicitors a dedicated and resilient lawyer and mother shared her story which was inspiring to so many of us. She spoke on expectations of young lawyers, the reality of legal practice as it takes more than just skills to survive especially as a woman and a few pinpoints: 📌 WORK LIFE INTEGRATION instead of Work Life Balance, this is because work life integration involves giving yourself the flexibility to choose how to manage your time to work and have personal time simultaneously. 📌 Men are NOT the competition, because women often get opportunities but slack at it. 📌 As a woman remember to include a fellow woman. “It’s better to grow together than climbing the heights alone then reaching your hands down to help” 📌 Lastly, "The one you don't know, LEARN. Dear Connections, Reflecting on my internship at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), I am grateful for the invaluable learning experience it offered. Working within IOCL's legal department provided me with a profound insight into the practical application of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 in real-world disputes. Collaborating with the in-house counsel on diverse business engagements at IOCL was both challenging and enlightening. One of the highlights of my internship was uncovering the immense potential of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms. ADR, governed by the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, offers parties flexible and efficient ways to resolve disputes outside the traditional court system. During my internship, I delved into key provisions, including: - Section 7, which defines arbitration agreements, stressing mutual consent's significance. - Section 11, outlining the arbitrator appointment procedure to ensure impartiality and expertise. - Section 34, allowing for the setting aside of arbitral awards on specific grounds to maintain process efficiency. - Part III, governing conciliation to promote amicable settlements through neutral conciliators' involvement. ADR's hallmark features include confidentiality, party autonomy, and cost-effectiveness. Arbitration facilitates private dispute resolution, circumventing the delays and costs of conventional litigation.
