💬 One of the key contributors to the HOPE Final Conference Roundtable, was the Head of the Peacebuilding Unit of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Jason Aplon. 🎤 We extended the conversation about his perspectives on the multidimensional challenges of preventing radicalisation into a short interview focusing on how the HOPE project results can contribute to improving outcomes. 👉 At the HOPE Final Conference, Mr Predrag Šofranac, Regional P/CVE Programme Manager at the Council of Europe, took the stage to present the Council's initiatives supporting prison services in the Western Balkan countries facing radicalisation issues. 🎙️ 🔎 In this post-conference short interview, Mr Šofranac highlights how HOPE has contributed to equipping prison and probation staff with new tools, enhancing their abilities to prevent radicalisation. In Balkan and Eastern European countries, these challenges are amplified by their unique contextual nuances and associated threats. ➡️ Through the HOPE project (Holistic Radicalisation Prevention Initiative), we've established a network of experts and practitioners and delved into the lived realities of prison and community professionals and organisations in preventing and countering radicalisation and violent extremism. We worked together to find both holistic strategies and tailored approaches to address the distinct challenges each jurisdiction faces. 📸 Today, we are hosting the HOPE International Conference in Lisbon, Portugal, bringing together participants representing 14 countries and 5 international organisations, including the Council of Europe, OSCE, the Confederation of European Probation, and the International Organisation for Migration. 👥Our diverse audience includes researchers, law enforcement representatives, policy and programme coordinators, as well as decision-makers from national prison, probation and community systems, all eager to gain insights into our project's approach and outcomes. We are showcasing the impactful results of our research and knowledge-sharing endeavours, which have played a pivotal role in shaping our comprehensive strategy for preventing and countering radicalisation and violent extremism in Balkan countries.
