From kickoff to final whistle, the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram scored big at the World Cup, taking fans on a ride they'll never forget! For the first time in the history of the World Cup 64 matches were spread across 8 stadiums contained within an area of 600 sq kms- the most compact World Cup ever. Doha Metro and Lusail Tram was at the center of it all providing an integrated mode of transport with convenience and safety at its core - Moving 18.2 million passengers at 99.8% service performance with no major safety incidents reported. Through three years of preparation, 96,000 hours of training, ten international practice events, resilient crowd management plans, expertise from our shareholders at RATP Dev and Keolis Group and over 5000 committed people working as One Team towards One goal we were able to deliver this once-in-a-lifetime experience seamlessly. RKH Qitarat is a joint venture between RATP Dev, Keolis and the Hamad Group. French public transport operators, RATP Dev and Keolis, bring global expertise to metro and tram operations. At the same time, Hamad Group provides local knowledge and contributes to developing domestic railway capabilities and industry in Qatar. RKH Qitarat operates and maintains the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram. RKH Qitarat’s client is Qatar Rail, the state-owned railway company responsible for rail transport in Qatar. Established in 2011, the company leads the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the entire rail network and systems. Key facts – Doha Metro - Three lines each able to carry more than 8000 customers an hour in each direction - The red line opened in May 2019 - The gold line opened in November 2019 - The green line opened in December 2019 - Speeds of up to 100 km an hour - One of the world’s fastest driverless networks - 37 stations and 110 trains, each with three cars - Operating on 76 km of track Key facts - Lusail Tram - Four lines planned Orange, Turquoise, Pink and Purple - Orange line opened in January 2022 with 7 stations, above and below ground - 28 trams, with 5 cars - One tram replaces around 40 cars on the road - Once all four lines are open there will be 28 km of track Career opportunities A range of exciting opportunities are available at RKH Qitarat. RKH Qitarat is currently looking for a Track Engineer to join our team and help us deliver service excellence across our networks with a specific focus on safety, engineering, maintenance and asset management for systems such as depot and mainline track and roadworks (within track/line dynamic gauge) or earthworks & formations whenever applicable. Few weeks ago, we hosted the RATP Dev IT Director Mebs Elahi and Cybersecurity Head (CISO) Samuel Vinson in RKH Qitarat. In the comprehensive tour they met with the RKH IT department and were briefed on the best practices of our Cybersecurity team and how these were implemented in key events such as the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the AFC Asian Cup 2023.
