ChatGPT killed many businesses... Ok, technically it did not but it raises questions about the future of knowledge-sharing platforms like Quora and StackOverflow. With ChatGPT, users can generate "intelligent" content on any topic they want, including physics, medicine, IT, and more. However, spam generated by ChatGPT leads to mediocre results that may not contain any real knowledge. ChatGPT has raised spamming to the next level, making it challenging to distinguish whether the knowledge generated by it can be trusted. As a result, users' trust in platforms like Quora and StackOverflow will decrease, leading to a decreased urge to use them due to the substantial amount of spam on the platform. The cost of checking content for accuracy has become much higher compared to the cost of generating fake content. You may say, what is the loss as Quora and StackOverflow are free to use? But Quora serves as a traffic source for many products, while StackOverflow's reputation system may be devalued. Introducing a trust index may be a solution to the problem, but it's unclear whether it will effectively solve the issue. #future #content

CHAT GPT ANALYSING LOGIC TREES I'm now starting to get feedback from students in my course on how to use AI to help with Logical Thinking Process analysis. Those results are impressive and only strengthen my opinion that this technology is a game changer, for it drastically reduces the time and effort needed for sound logical analysis. It thus has the potential to help vastly improve decision-making in organisations. This is a recent example, analysing the attached logic tree: "ChatGPT The logic tree in the image illustrates the dynamics and consequences of a company's policy to minimize salary per person in an effort to reduce overall payroll costs. This policy seems to be causing a series of negative reinforcing loops which are detrimental to the company's performance. Here's a breakdown of the two negative reinforcing loops identified in the logic tree: Negative Reinforcing Loop A: The company's policy to minimize salary per person leads to paying lower salaries than competitors. As a result, experienced employees demand higher pay and prefer well-regarded employers, leading them to leave for competitors. This high employee turnover increases the failure rate due to inexperienced new hires making more mistakes. The high failure rate causes customers to avoid the company, leading to a decrease in revenue and worsening financial results. The poor financial results require the company to keep payroll costs low, perpetuating the cycle. Negative Reinforcing Loop B: The reduced payroll leads to the hiring of more inexperienced people as experienced ones leave. These inexperienced employees work slower and require training, which incurs high costs. The lower salaries do not offset the cost of hiring more staff and training them. Consequently, the company constantly needs to hire new people to cope with the workload and turnover. This continuous need to hire affects the company's reputation negatively, making it even harder to attract and retain experienced staff, thus continuing the cycle. The logic tree clearly shows how the initial policy to minimize salary per person is counterproductive. It leads to a series of unintended consequences that negatively affect the company's reputation, staff quality, and financial performance. It highlights the importance of considering long-term effects and the interconnectivity of policies, reputation, employee satisfaction, and financial health." An excellent post by Tom Mills on how to use ChatGPT effectively for procurement.
ChatGPT can help 10 x your Procurement productivity. But 99% don’t use it correctly. Here’s how to use ChatGPT to stand out and save 1000’s of hours in 2024: 1. Analyse large amount of data You can integrate ChatGPT directly into Excel with plugins. But in simple terms you can copy and paste excel into it. E.g. for RFP evaluation analysis ask: “Please analyse this [spreadsheet]. Which supplier has scored the highest overall?” Of course, anonymise the data before you do this. 2. Create the first draft of an RFP, SOW or contracts Often the hardest part is knowing where to start but even if you have a business template, you can use ChatGPT to hone this for a specific requirement. Ask ChatGPT: “Please adapt the contents of this RFP template and add in the specific requirements and assessment criteria associate with buying [service]. 3. Have it be your practice negotiation partner Negotiations are often the hardest thing to practice alone. ChatGPT can be your training partner. Ask it: "Let's simulate a [details] type negotiation. Please be the seller and make a proposal, and we'll go through several steps together" 4. Research a company Knowing the business you’re considering meeting with is super helpful. You can learn what other clients are saying about them. Just ask ChatGPT: "What have customers said about [Company]? Or what can you infer about their culture from what is available online?” 5. Brainstorm the right Procurement approach Not all Procurement processes are equal. Establish the best use of time. Ask ChatGPT: "I need to purchase a [specific service] and we have [X number of options] with [Y amount of time available]”. Please outline the best Procurement approach with a suitable timeline to implement. 6. Inspire your interview responses ChatGPT can help inspire your first draft response - personalized to you. Direct ChatGPT to your LinkedIn, then ask the question. Like this: "Read my Linkedin [URL]. Then craft a compelling response for the question: [Question]." Power tips: One of the most important things for all of this is to understand the value of prompt engineering. The more instructions you can give ChatGPT, the more it can do for you in return. Say you need to write an e-mail to stakeholders about a Procurement process. Your prompt should include: - Context (“We’re a mid-sized organisation in the financial services industry. Inflation is running high”) - Tell the AI what its role is (“Imagine you’re a Procurement Professional”) - Describe the task (“Write an e-mail about the importance of selecting the right supplier and doing Procurement due diligenece”) - Describe the audience (“The readers are time poor and have little knowledge of Procurement”) - Set the tone (“Use a friendly but clear tone”) - Give Parameters (“Don’t exceed 300 words”) Is this helpful? Feel free to repost it for others. Any thoughts or questions? Let me know in the comments.

What? Sam Altman who is (was) CEO of ChatGPT fired! If you are also shocked by this news, read this post to get more details about it. Thank you Nicolas Boucher.
Why was Sam Altman fired? Update: Sam Altman might come back! Some employees are threatening to quit if the board doesn’t resign and put back Sam in charge! An infographic to understand the complex dynamic of OpenAI Here is what happened: Sam Altman was fired by four members of the board of directors: Ilya Sutskever Current Role: Co-founder and Chief Scientist at OpenAI. Adam D'Angelo Current Role: CEO of Quora and an Independent Director on the Board of Directors at OpenAI. Tasha McCauley Current Role: Technology entrepreneur and an Independent Director on the Board of Directors at OpenAI. Helen Toner Current Role: Director of Strategy and Foundational Research Grants at Georgetown’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) and an Independent Director on the Board of Directors at OpenAI. Following this decision, Greg Brockman, the ex-president and co-founder of OpenAI quit as a sign of support with Sam Altman. What are the dynamics involved? The main reason appears to be Sam Atlman's commercially oriented vision for OpenAI which breaks with the initial goal of OpenAI and the vision of the four other directors. As OpenAI moved quickly on Enterprise and GPTs marketplace, the trajectory to become one of the top commercial tech company was traced. It might be that these commercial decisions were done without an agreement from the board and therefore created this conflict between the 4 remaining members of the board and Sam Altman. The new CEO is for now Mira Murati as a sign to come back to the main goal of OpenAI: becoming the lead research and scientific driver for AI. I also added for you a structure of the OpenAI organisation. Microsoft invested $10 billion in the capped profit organisation of OpenAI. Microsoft is getting 75 percent of OpenAI’s profits until it recoups its investment, after which it would have a 49 percent stake in the company. 🙏 I have spent a lot of hours doing the research on this. Please share, like and comment to show your appreciation!
