about

A concert late in the original quartet's existence (45 days before they broke up) and they're playing like a well-oiled machine. Most of THE ROTTERS' CLUB is played straight through because it had just been released.

Unfortunately, the CD copy has suffered some serious ravages of time, leaving the last nine minutes unusable. I had to fade out track 5-wherein Dave Stewart briefly quotes Alan Gowen-after the end of the usable audio.

Track 6 is twenty seconds of silence, followed by 8½ minutes of chaos and damaged audio. It is included here strictly in case anyone knows of any AI tools that can fix square waves and missing data (see the waveform by clicking on the track). There's not enough time left in the universe to do it by hand.

Recorded live 15 April 1975 at The Fabrik, Hamburg, Germany. This was apparently recorded out in the audience-the band is fairly distant-though the applause is also distant. Maybe it was recorded up in the rafters.

Gotta love the disco ball.

Thanks to Nic Sinclair for sleuthing this out of Richard's archives. It hasn't been seen anywhere else to my knowledge.

I think this is a "recording of indeterminate origin," i.e. a bootleg. If you buy it from me it'll be the first time anyone in the band has seen a quid from it.

about

Richard Sinclair Martina Franca, Italy

The leading voice of the Canterbury Scene. Beginning with the Wilde Flowers, on to Caravan, Hatfield & the North, Camel and all his recent group efforts, Richard Sinclair's singing and bass playing have been a constant source of delight for lovers of Canterbury music. A deep, low voice, a talent for memorable melodies few can match, plus an imaginative and fluid technique on the bass and guitar. ... more
