❗ANRE Revamps Electrical Network Capacity Allocation Methodology! The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has overhauled its approach to allocating electrical network capacities, driven by the rapid expansion of renewable energy projects that exceed current transport and distribution capacities. Key Immediate Updates: 📌 A 5% financial guarantee is now required for technical connection permits at new sites with capacities over 1 MW, irrespective of reinforcement needs, and must be secured before the ATR is issued. 📌 An option for a 12-month extension with an additional 5% bond is available if external factors delay building permits. 📌 Reinforcement computation will be updated to ensure fairness by taking valid prior ATRs into account. Starting January 1, 2026: 📌 The traditional reinforcement participation model will be replaced by an auction-based mechanism for network capacity allocation. 📌 This new model will cover production/consumption sites, with or without storage, having an installed power of ≥ 5 MW. 📌 Auction proceeds will fund crucial network development managed by operators. This reform represents a major step forward in addressing the influx of renewable projects and boosting our electrical infrastructure’s capacity, reflecting years of proactive advocacy by the association. 💡🌍
