Tendinopathy and tendonitis frequently are confused, but they are separate conditions, both affecting tendons. Tendons connect bone to muscle and are made of fibrous tissues While tendonitis means tendon pain, especially tendon inflammation, tendinopathy is tendon disease or disorder. The diagnosis of tendinopathy refers to a tendon injury that fails to heal. Unlike tendonitis, where inflammation is generally involved, tendinopathy has little inflammation present. Tendinopathy may happen in several areas of the body including the shoulder (rotator cuff), elbow (tennis/golfer’s elbow), hip/groin area (gluteus medius), knee (patellar tendon), foot and ankle (Achilles and tibialis posterior tendon). These are the primary areas that are affected. Dear orthopedic doctors, We know that knee arthroscopy is one of the most frequently performed procedures. This is simply because the meniscus itself has a poor blood supply, which affects its ability to repair, heal and regenerate. In knee arthroscopy, partial meniscectomy is one of the most commonly performed procedures. Arthroscopic procedures are known to have a negative impact on articular cartilage because they can alter the ideal environment of the knee joint by changing the temperature, osmolarity, and pH of the synovial fluid. During this process, arthroscopic surgery can lead to a withdrawal of healthy fluid from the joint, which can promote damage to the joint cartilage. This deterioration, combined with surgical trauma, can have a negative impact on treatment in the postoperative period. Synovial joint fluid is a biological lubricant and a biochemical reservoir through which nutrients and cytokines circulate. Administration of hyaluronic acid (HA) to the joint immediately after surgery has been shown to have a positive effect on the altered environment of the joint, leading to a reduction in postoperative pain and accelerated functional improvements, such as joint mobility and greater good weight support. Many studies have reported positive effects in mild to moderate osteoarthritis, as well as postoperative pain relief and functional improvement. After partial meniscus surgery, pain is an important factor that prevents patients from resuming their full activities. The rationale for this treatment is based on the biological and mechanical properties of hyaluronic acid, which acts as a joint lubricant, replenishes lost synovial fluid, and provides a mechanical shock absorber. Hyaluronic acid treatment after arthroscopic partial knee meniscal surgery can significantly reduce pain 2 weeks after surgery and lead to improved mobility at 2 and 6 weeks after surgery. On this basis, viscosupplementation may provide some benefit in terms of pain and functional recovery after arthroscopic surgery. Who are we and what can we offer you? Good day dear partners and orthopedic doctors. ORTHOFLEX hyaluronic acid injection can also be given with platelet rich plasma (PRP) as a combined injection. What is hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of synovial fluid that can be found in joints. Synovial fluid in arthritic joints is thinner and less viscous (less thick) than that found in healthy joints and so provides less shock absorption and joint surface protection.
