𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚! 🔋 The Ministry of Energy has released a draft Government Emergency Ordinance (GEO) amending the Energy Law no. 123/2012, bringing impactful changes that could advance the battery storage sector. 📢 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬: • 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐱𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The proposed GEO removes the double taxation currently burdening battery operators, who today pay network tariffs on both withdrawal and injection of electricity from/to the grid. • 𝐂𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and GC 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥 as storage operators will no longer be seen as an end client when withdrawing electricity. • 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Lands belonging to permanent reservoirs, previously funded by the state, may now be transferred to the Ministry of Energy’s administration to be concessioned specifically for the development of storage capacity projects. • 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: The draft includes a requirement for grid operators to perform cybersecurity audits on inverters and related systems in accordance with an order to be issued by the Energy Regulator (ANRE) and the National Cybersecurity Directorate.
