In the energy sector, Türkiye has drastically increased its imports of LNG to diversify its energy suppliers. Offshore oil and gas exploration will continue in the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. The same impulse to diversify Türkiye’s energy supply has resulted in an uptick of license tenders for renewable energy projects, specifically solar, wind, and geothermal. Both the public and private sectors continue to invest substantially in advanced manufacturing, information and communication technologies, and healthcare, among other sectors. https://lnkd.in/dnjWcTDX

One of the important features of economic integration among countries is international trade. The current international trade dynamics leads to significant changes in the structure of global trade. The motivation for evaluating the economic relations between Turkey and the Balkans region is based on their geographical proximity to Turkey and the EU. It is well illustrated in the literature that geographical features play an important role in the economic progress of any country, influencing the prospects for development. Generally, we observe that the Turkish investments in the Balkans region increased substantially, but on a country basis there are big fluctuations. The significant growth of Turkey’s trade and investments with the region has particularly been supported by the bilateral free trade agreements and the encouragements offered by the recipient governments. The substantial increase in trade volume, means increasing interdependence between countries.
