Last night, we proudly hosted the Women in Tech® MENA Awards 2024, marking the culmination of a remarkable three-month journey across the globe, featuring seven regional awards! 🌍✨ Held in Riyadh and live-streamed on TikTok LIVE MENA, this event celebrated the incredible contributions of women in the tech sector under the theme “The Power of SHEroes: Shaping the Future of Technology.” Our deepest gratitude goes to H.E. Women in Tech® is an international organization on a mission to close the gender gap and to help women embrace technology. We promote girls’ and women’s empowerment around the world, with a focus on Sustainable Development Goal 5b: harnessing technologies. With our Head Office in Paris, we are a Global Movement with chapters in 6 continents, counting over 200.000 members. The aim is to educate, equip and empower women and girls with the necessary skills, confidence and opportunities to succeed in STEM career fields. We are the only organization for women in tech that has programs for every stage of a woman’s career lifecycle: from the classroom to the boardroom. Congratulations to the winner of the Aspiring Teen Award, Aziza Nematova. 🏆 We recognize young girls (13-19) with a passion for technology, celebrating their innovative projects, tech skills, and potential to inspire peers. This award encourages young women to pursue STEM careers and acknowledges their early achievements in tech. Aziza Nematova, a 16-year-old student at Navoi Presidential School, is deeply involved in tech initiatives focused on empowering youth in Uzbekistan. She is an apprentice at the Cyber Security Club under the Cyber Security Center of Uzbekistan, where she is training to become a future Cyber Security Officer. Additionally, she is a scholar in quantum computing for cyber security with the Girls in Research program, mentored by industry experts. Aziza is also a finalist in the TechGirls 2024 program, where she is working on a project involving a space-cleaning and mining robot arm. In her local community, she founded and mentors the "Navoi Tech Teens" program, which offers coding and tech-related workshops to students in the Navoi region. She also led the creation of a website prototype to assist students in preparing for national and international Olympiads. Aziza has participated in various tech initiatives, such as the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program, and she has served as a teaching assistant in Python and data science at SENSORIKA IT Educational Centre. Through her leadership and technical expertise, Aziza has made a significant impact, especially in encouraging more young people, particularly girls, to explore tech-related fields in Uzbekistan. Congratulations to the winner of the Best Ally Award, Rada Islamova 🏆. We honor individuals who actively support and advocate for women in technology. This award highlights efforts in mentorship, creating inclusive environments, and promoting gender diversity within the tech community. Rada began her career in leadership roles within organizational committees for major global events such as the European Championships, World Championships, the Olympics, and the World Expo. In 2017, she transitioned into the IT sector, becoming a top executive at Kazakhstan's largest IT company and CEO of an e-commerce business. During this time, she mentored women within the company and experienced the gender pay gap firsthand. This inspired her to create "Wonder Women" in 2019, an initiative focused on empowering women through motivational lectures and mentorship. Since 2020, Rada has fully dedicated herself to Wonder Women, developing a mentorship program that has supported 156 women across Central Asia, with 50% of participants working in IT. The program has helped women in various fields, including IT, science, finance, and business, achieve their professional goals. Many of the alumni have advanced to leadership roles, launched startups, and secured positions in international companies. Rada has also worked on various gender-focused projects with organizations such as the UN and Tumaris.Tech. She is currently conducting a research study on gender disparity in IT, telecom, and fintech companies in Kazakhstan, engaging with over 30 companies. Her efforts aim to promote gender equality and create opportunities for women across industries. This individual demonstrates exceptional creativity, risk-taking, and leadership in pushing boundaries and reshaping the technological landscape. Laman Aliyeva is a computer science expert and entrepreneur with extensive experience in machine learning, quantum computing, and healthcare technology. She began coding at the age of 13 and has since applied her skills across various industries, including healthcare, renewable energy, and assistive technology. One of her key projects includes developing Azerbaijan’s first AI-powered breast cancer detection system, which uses deep learning algorithms to identify cancerous cells in their early stages. In the renewable energy sector, she developed an AI-powered energy voltage stabilizer that enhances the efficiency of renewable energy plants by up to 40%, earning two Eurasian patents. Currently a computer science student and researcher at ADA University, Laman has published several academic papers in reputable scientific journals. Her work on applying quantum AI algorithms in healthcare, as well as AI techniques for smart grid stability and astronomical data analysis, has been presented at global conferences, including IEEE and the International Astronautical Congress. Laman is also the co-founder of Tenter, the first GenAI-powered mobile app that helps beginners understand coding problems. The app has over 15,000 users from 11 countries and has received investments and support from entities like Amazon Web Services. She also founded the Artificial Intelligence Hub, the largest AI center in Azerbaijan, focusing on R&D and AI education. As a Google WomenTechmakers ambassador, Laman leads a community of over 80,000 women globally, promoting diversity and inclusion in technology. Wearify has received multiple accolades, including recognition as a national finalist in the Entrepreneurship World Cup. In addition to her role at Wearify, Nazeli serves as a data scientist at Opply, focusing on optimizing supply chains in the food and beverage industry. Her research extends to developing artificial olfactory systems and designing neural networks for biomedical applications. Through her innovative work, Nazeli is not only advancing technology in the fashion industry but also contributing significantly to the Web3 landscape by integrating AI and data science in creative and impactful ways. Currently, she serves as Head of the Kazakhstan Innovations Lab, a UNICEF-sponsored initiative focused on children’s rights, girls’ equity, and social impact. Kozhamzharova holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer and Software Engineering. Her professional development is marked by numerous certifications, including an Advanced Cybersecurity Certificate from UCLA, and she has completed internships at Purdue University, The University of Suwon, and Warsaw University of Technology. She is also a Senior Member of IEEE and holds an h-index of 8 on Scopus for her scientific publications. Beyond her academic and professional roles, Kozhamzharova mentors young women through Technovation Kazakhstan and is an active member of the "Women in Cybersecurity in Kazakhstan" group. She also serves as the Partnership Lead for the Women in Tech Kazakhstan Chapter and co-founded Qabi Tech IT School. Her contributions have earned her various honors, including a Medal for Excellence in Education in 2023. Congratulations to the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award , Nigora Dadabaeva 🏆 . The most prestigious category, recognizing a woman’s lifelong dedication to the tech industry. This award highlights her achievements, influence, and long-term impact on the field, celebrating a career of sustained excellence and leadership in technology. Nigora Dadabaeva has built a distinguished career in science and medicine, starting with her education in South Korea, where she earned a master’s degree (2003-2005). She furthered her expertise in 2008 by conducting research in Germany on pancreatic tumors, which marked a significant milestone in her medical career. In 2016, Dadabaeva trained in the application of IT and artificial intelligence for early diagnosis of pancreatic diseases in San Francisco, enhancing her skills in medical technologies. By 2022, Dadabaeva had founded an educational company in Uzbekistan to promote STEM education, and in 2024, her second venture, MedTeh AI SOLUTIONS, focused on innovations in early disease diagnosis, including liver cirrhosis and pancreatic cancer, as well as ultraviolet disinfection methods. Following a personal injury and subsequent disability in 2018, she became a passionate advocate for people with disabilities, founding initiatives that create employment opportunities and support social integration. She also established the Association of Acupressure, particularly focused on training visually impaired students in collaboration with experts from South Korea. Dadabaeva’s commitment extends to empowering women and youth through health and acupressure courses, and the development of a meridian acupressure app. Her ongoing efforts to integrate standardized applications into government structures and create jobs for disabled individuals underscore her dedication to social inclusion and medical innovation.
