During the inaugural Norrsken Africa Week event held at the Norrsken House in Kigali, Rwanda, our CEO, Jansen Durham, had the privilege of sharing our journey with a distinguished audience, including His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame. Here are a few takeaways from Jansen’s pitch: At Fixa, we are reimagining the Future of Work in Africa. Fixa's journey has been driven by a mission to digitize informal employment and empower the invisible workforce of Africa. Here's a glimpse into our transformative approach: Building the Tools: Over the last two years, we've been on a mission to support informal workers in accessing opportunities. In doing so, we have built technology tools enabling human resource management at scale. Digital Career Identities: We have crafted digital career identities, by capturing work history and the skills of workers. Management Tools: We have built management tools for businesses to track attendance and communicate with workers offline. Payment Solutions: We integrated with mobile money wallets to pay workers at scale. Empowerment: For the first time ever, informal workers can accept job requests and access financial services and social benefits, offline via our USSD App. By the numbers: With these tools, we have successfully staffed the construction of schools, factories, and the country's national stadium. Fixa has on-boarded workers, creating over 8,000 digital career identities, connecting over 350,000 shifts, and disbursing over $2 million to the workers and their communities. Fixa's development has been a journey marked by continuous innovation and a commitment to transforming the landscape of the informal sector. From our own experiences, we understand the challenges faced by informal workers and businesses alike. These challenges fueled our dedication to creating tools that can reshape the narrative of work in Africa's informal economy. Today, the impact we have had on the informal market stands as a testament to our growth and our mission to empower the unsung heroes of the informal economy. #Fixa #FutureOfWork #InformalEconomy #DigitalTransformation #Empowerment #AfricanInnovation #EconomicInclusion #TechForGood #SustainableDevelopment #SDGs #JoinTheMission

Recap from the SDG Digital Week at the United Nations HQ: Showcasing Solutions to Achieve the SDGs through Digital Technologies At the recent #SDGDigitalWeekend event at the United Nations in New York, our CTO, Tafara Makaza, shared insights into Fixa's mission and the potential of technology to provide solutions at scale. Here are a few takeaways from his keynote speech: Our vision at Fixa is clear: By 2030, we aim to empower 10 million informal workers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Why? Fixa believes that digital inclusion for traditionally invisible businesses and workers is the path to economic and financial inclusion. How? Fixa leverages technology to create digital career identities for workers, allowing them to access the formal economy. Fixa is building the “LinkedIn for the LinkedOut” in Africa. Since its launch, Fixa has onboarded over 7,000 informal workers and connected them to over 300,000 shifts. Digital inclusion: Fixa is leading the way in digitalizing businesses and workers operating in the informal economy, allowing them to access economic value previously inaccessible. Economic inclusion: Fixa has created digital career identities for traditionally invisible workers, allowing them, for the first time, to have a track record that is accessible to employers and financial service providers. Tafara's presentation underscored our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs), particularly in the areas of No Poverty, Decent Work, and Reduced Inequalities. Join us on this journey toward a more inclusive and equitable future of work! #FixaRecap #SDGDigitalDay #GlobalGoals #ActNow #InformalWorkers #Generation17 #Fixa #Rwanda Samsung Mobile UNDP International Telecommunication Union
