On October 28th, the Saudi-Swedish Joint Business Council held its annual meeting, bringing together around 40 business representatives from Saudi Arabia and Sweden. Co-chaired by Mr. Marcus Wallenberg and Mrs. Lubna Olayan, with the participation of Sweden’s new Minister of Foreign Trade, Mr. Benjamin Dousa, we covered a range of key topics, from advancing education and training to enhancing environmental protection and sustainability efforts. A key note speech by EQT’s CEO Christian Sinding highlighted Saudi Arabia’s growing significance in the global investment climate.
Discussions focused on education, training, environmental protection and sustainability. A key highlight was our in-depth discussion on the Saudi-Swedish Innovation Pipeline and the critical role of North-South Innovation transfer in driving mutual growth.
The Business Council was also proud to inaugurate the new Saudi-Swedish Executive Women’s Network - a new initiative that will strengthen relationships between women in Saudi as well as Swedish businesses. We were also glad to witness the signing of yet another MoU between a Swedish and a Saudi company.
The afternoon included an engaging session with the Ministry of Investment, where companies were introduced to opportunities including the new investment law, the Regional Headquarters Initiative, and the Free Trade Zone.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this meeting a success and thank you Embassy of Sweden in Riyadh for your support. It was a truly productive and inspiring day!
