How we are funded
The SBTi is committed to transparency regarding our funding. Learn more about how we are funded below.
The SBTi receives three different sources of funding:
- Core funding
- Project-specific funding for specific time-limited projects to develop new sector guidance or update specific standards
- Validation service fees to recover the cost of running our target validation service
As of 2023:
- 41% of income was from core funding
- 11% of income was from project-specific funding
- 48% of income was from validation service fees
Avoiding conflicts of interest
Income we receive from companies, whether as funding or validation fees, has no influence on decisions surrounding their targets. Read more in our conflict of interest policy.
How you can support us
Funders help ensure science-based climate action is embedded within many of the highest emitting sectors, which have the biggest potential to help prevent catastrophic levels of global heating.
If you would like to discuss opportunities to expand science-based targets across sectors, contact Anna Cracco, SBTi Grants Manager, at funders@sciencebasedtargets.org
