2021: Shortlisted 2022: Reserved 2023: Reserved 2024: Selected I Can’t Keep Calm—I’ve Been Chosen for Chevening! I am thrilled to share that I have been awarded the prestigious Chevening Awards to pursue a Master’s in Public Health at Imperial College London, the top 1 university in the UK and Europe, and second in the world for 2025! Being among the selected 2% of applicants—out of a staggering 67,461—is a dream come true. My journey with Chevening began four years ago, and since then, I've viewed myself as a selected candidate, awaiting the perfect moment for confirmation. This journey has been anything but easy. I’ve faced the grueling demands of surgery shifts at New Halfa Teaching Hospital, working on my research projects, while passionately directing the End the Neglect Initiative. Balancing universities applications and crafting an outstanding scholarship submission was a monumental task in itself. The challenges intensified with the ongoing war in Sudan. The constant internet disruptions made it difficult to stay connected, and I found out about my interview selection days later than expected. Yet, with determination, I set up my online interview at a nearby gas station, relying on a Starlink internet device to connect with my future. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my family for their continuous support. I am particularly thankful to my sister ALAA BEDRI, whose continuous assistance in navigating the scholarship application process, booking my IELTS, and facilitating travel plans for the exam has made all the difference. I also extend my sincere thanks to my professors, Prof. Ahmed Fahal and Prof. Musa Mohamed Kheir, for their invaluable guidance and for believing in me enough to provide reference letters that opened new doors. A special shout-out goes to Mr. Mohamed Osama and Mr. Ahmed Tahir - General Surgery Specialists - for their understanding and flexibility, which allowed me the time to focus on my IELTS studies and scholarship requirements while working in the Department of General Surgery. I am incredibly grateful to my friend Rana for generously sharing her time and expertise in refining my IELTS writing essays; her insights truly made a difference. Thank you so much Sa'id Gaya and Cyril Onwuelazu Uteh for reviewing and editing my essays, which have truly stood out since my initial experience with the Chevening application. I also appreciate your valuable advice for the interview. And a big thank you to my friend Alaa Abdelmonim, whose presence made our journey to Ethiopia for the IELTS test both joyful and effortless. Thank you all for being such an essential part of this journey..
