2DSPIN-TECH is an Horizon Europe funded project, that aims to significantly reduce energy consumption, promote sustainability, and improve the overall performance of computer memory. It is vitally important for the future use of information technology. 2DSPIN-TECH will develop a new energy-efficient spintronic memory device platform based on emerging atomically-thin two-dimensional (2D) quantum materials for the next generation of memory technologies. The 2D topological spin-orbit materials can generate a giant current-induced spin polarization, whereas room temperature 2D magnets provide the prospective of electric control of magnetism. To achieve this game changer for computer memory, 2DSPIN-TECH bring together pioneering and world-leading experimental and theoretical researchers and a company in the field of spintronics and 2D materials in Europe. It is a consortium of seven partners from five different countries: Chalmers University of Technology, Chalmers Industriteknik, Universität Regensburg, University of Jena, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, The University of Manchester and HQ Graphene. 2D SPIN-TECH is involved in the GrapheneEU CSA project, under the Graphene Flagship Initiative. Watch us create a new generation of memories.

Coexistence of non-trivial van der Waals magnetic orders enable field-free spin-orbit torque switching at room temperature. https://lnkd.in/gnbVX3wz Bing Zhao, Lakhan Bainsla, Soheil Ershadrad, Lunjie Zeng, Roselle Ngaloy, Peter Svedlindh, Eva Olsson, Biplab Sanyal, Saroj P. Dash We discovered the coexistence of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic orders in van der Waals magnet, inducing an intrinsic exchange bias and canted perpendicular magnetism. Such non-trivial intrinsic magnetic order enables us to realize energy-efficient, magnetic field-free, and deterministic spin-orbit torque memory. #memory #MRAM #Chip #Spintronics

↪️ Throwback to Session II of CMD31 - MC46 ↩️ The CMD31 was held a month ago in Braga, Portugal, and we hosted a Mini Colloquium MC46 entitled "Charge and spin transport in low-symmetry, topological and magnetic materials". CMD31 was the 31st edition of the European Physical Society Condensed Matter Division General #Conference, this year having been organised by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Física. Authors were invited to submit an abstract to our MC, and we received 16 oral contributions that were divided into two sessions, along with 5 poster contributions. Session I was initiated by the invited Lecture of Prof. YoshiChika Otani from The Institute for Solid State Physics, The University of Tokyo, followed by 8 oral contributions, which you can see in the photos below. We thank everyone that participated and joined our mini-colloquium for the fruitful discussions and interesting research. We also thank all the organisers Sofia Ferreira Teixeira, Ivan J. Vera Marun, Andre Pereira, Luis E. Hueso Arroyo, Tatiana Rappoport, Saroj Dash, Carmine Ortix. #CMD31 #conference #overview #photos
