Successful Mid-Term Review of Aero EDIH! 🚀   Yesterday was a significant day for us! Aero EDIH was visited by representatives from the European Commission Jaakko Aarnio, Linda Meleo, Sophie STERN and Niklas Gustavsson, for a mid-term review of the project. The visit involved a formal evaluation aimed to secure efficient use of fundings in relation to set up goals and KPI:s.   We had an open dialogue during the presentations, which encouraged active participation and engagement with the topics. We also invited three of our customers, remote.aero, DRONEAB, Region Västerbotten who shared how Aero EDIH have supported the development of their organisations.   The representatives were content with the progress and showed their appreciation after the presentation by giving us a very positive feedback.   ”It is always instructive with a review where people from outside ask relevant questions and where we in the project must think about our deliverables and the strategic direction. The review gave us valuable insights both in the preparations and in the discussions during the review.” says Jan-Olof Ehk, Project Manager of Aero EDIH.   Thank you for visiting the evaluation session Ewa Thylén, Sverker Brundin and Anna Jacobson.

A large-scale hyperspectral data collection was conducted over Norrköping this summer, marking an important step for the future of urban planning. The Hyperspectral images further enhances the creation of the digital twin of the city which can help provide unique insights into air pollution, land use, and energy consumption of the city. The data collection was carried out as part of a service package from the Aero EDIH project and enhances Visual Sweden’s City Platform project by adding an additional data layer to the digital twin which can be used for further training of the generating AI-model. As part of the EU’s commitment to digital innovation, Aero EDIH works to support projects that promote smart and sustainable solutions. Since this data can be used to simulate both 2D and 3D logistic flows, the data collection also helps position Norrköping at the forefront in the development of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), airspace and U-space solutions both in Sweden and internationally. 🌳 Digital Skog - Day 2. Today, we ventured into the forest to observe how new technologies, such as autonomous vehicles, can be utilised in forestry. Nordluft was one of the companies that showcased their innovations, demonstrating how they can use drones for tasks such as ash recycling.

Day two at WARA PS at Gränsö Castle. Our Aero colleague Hans Siljebäck participated in the continuation of our seminar series on services that are supported or will be supported by AI, and what this means for the development within Aerospace. The seminar was moderated by Billy Josefsson, now running his own company, Space2Ground. The seminar concluded with an interesting and insightful discussion in the conference room's sofas. Here is a picture with the sofa that Billy Josefsson was sitting in, with Billy closest to the camera. Also in the sofa are Victoria Barrsäter from Transportföretagen, Martin Holmberg from LiU and our Aero colleague, as well as Alexander Sandström from Remote Aero. In the second picture, you can see Bart Scheers from Agilica in their demonstration area. Agilica is a Belgian company that has developed a system for precision landing for drones on, among other things, moving vehicles and vessels such as trucks and boats.

Yesterday, we had a joint session with a workshop on positioning, where we learned about how machine learning (ML) can be utilised in various applications. We also had a lecture on what AI/autonomy means for the state's monopoly on violence. We concluded with a discussion on how AI could be beneficial in the near future.

Many interesting discussions about the use of AI in aerospace related applications at the workshop organised by Aero EDIH during the WARA-PS demonstration week in Västervik. Topics today included air traffic management and airplane design from both a technical and an end user perspective. So many possibilities, but also potential pitfalls. Looking forward to continuing the workshop tomorrow!
