  • How to mitigate water risks? 💧 The gravity of the evolving water crisis left a clear mark when members of the World Economic Forum convened at the Annual Meeting in Davos in Switzerland in January: water, climate, nature, and energy were top topics of discussion – only surpassed by geopolitical tensions. At Alfa Laval, we collaborate closely with companies facing the challenge of mitigating their water risks by reducing water intake while increasing water reuse to meet stricter regulations. The failure to mitigate risks carry immediate cost implications and can impact a company's: competitiveness, license to operate and ability to attract partners, capital, and talent. 🚰 💼 We believe that achieving water-positive industrial operations is key to building resilience to the water crisis and sharpen a company’s competitiveness. This journey begins with water optimization as a steppingstone to water neutrality. 🌱 Join our event to learn from experts how to navigate evolving ESG practices and regulations while ensuring long-term water resilience for seamless business operations ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dhSbtmG7

  • With Carlsberg established in 1847 and Alfa Laval in 1883, both companies bring over a century of expertise and innovation to the table. 🌍 Carlsberg Group, one of the world's largest beer and beverage manufacturers, has been brewing quality beer for over 175 years. Meanwhile, Alfa Laval has been at the forefront of engineering solutions for more than 140 years, helping industries worldwide achieve greater efficiency and sustainability. 💡 When Carlsberg needed to enhance their manufacturing capabilities in Fredericia, Denmark, to meet the growing demand for unique products, they turned to Alfa Laval for innovative solutions. Carlsberg's manufacturing was originally designed for large-scale production runs. 🍺 However, with Alfa Laval's assistance and equipment, they successfully added smaller batches of craft beer to the same processing line without compromising the quality of the beer. This partnership not only transformed Carlsberg's production process but also resulted in significant energy savings. • ☕ Every morning, Juan Miguel Comillas savours his cup of coffee, fully aware that it represents 140 litres of water. This staggering amount is what’s necessary to grow, process, and transport the beans for just one cup, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. 💧 Globally, coffee lovers consume around 2.25 billion cups daily, which requires an immense volume of water. Recognizing this, one Spanish coffee producer sought to enhance water conservation and turned to Alfa Laval for assistance. As the Global Technology Business Developer for high-speed separators, Juan Miguel is well-versed in Spain's urgent need to alleviate pressure on water resources. When approached by coffee producer Productos Solubles: PROSOL to explore water-saving solutions, Juan had a clear vision of how to help. 🌍 At the time, Juan and his team were developing innovative technology for Alfa Laval’s centrifuges to recover and reuse cooling water. This technology, named Optiwia, has delivered remarkable results since its installation in 2024. Before Optiwia's implementation, a staggering 5,700 litres of fresh water were wasted daily after cooling the high-speed separator. “The Optiwia technology means that Prosol can recover the cooling water and use it to flush the machine after every discharge,” says Juan Miguel. “Before, it was going to waste, but now, we are collecting it in a tank and reusing it.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eKFrDQpu #SaveWater #Sustainability #PioneeringPositiveImpact #AlfaLaval

Carbon is the cornerstone of the chemical, fuel, and plastics industries. Today, most of it comes from fossil sources. Until we adopt a circular carbon approach, these industries will not be fully sustainable. By using carbon from sources such as captured CO2, biomass, and recycled materials, we can defossilize our industries and achieve a circular economy for carbon. 🌏 💡 On March 4th, at 15:00 CET Alfa Laval will host a free online Net Zero event, focused on insights and sharing best practice on how to accelerate the shift to circular carbon. Make sure to register already today!

  • ⚓ Last week, Alfa Laval signed an agreement to acquire NRG Marine, a leading provider of ultrasonic anti-fouling solutions, based in the United Kingdom. These solutions are designed for diverse applications within the marine, oil and gas, and other industrial sectors. “In the race to net zero, solutions that enhance energy efficiency and operational performance are more essential than ever,” says Sameer Kalra, President of the Marine Division at Alfa Laval. “The inclusion of ultrasonic anti-fouling technology into our portfolio is another addition to our decarbonization toolbox. By addressing the critical problem of biofouling with this advanced technique, we will enable our customers to meet both business and environmental objectives.” The technology prevents organic matter from colonizing machinery components by keeping clean surfaces, thereby reducing fouling, scaling, sludge, and deposits on critical parts. It stands out as a promising alternative to other methods and aligns with expected future legislation. 💡 Effective anti-fouling enhances the operational efficiency of assets, reduces maintenance needs, lowers cleaning costs, and extends the asset's lifecycle. In the marine industry, beyond these benefits, keeping equipment free of organic growth leads to significant fuel savings, supports decarbonization efforts, mitigates the risk of spreading invasive species, and ensures compliance with environmental regulations. 🌍 For us it is a step towards expanding our innovative technologies and staying ahead of future legislation. Our commitment to sustainable and efficient maritime practices drives this partnership.
