Thanks MassVentures for spotlighting Atlantic Quantum’s innovative work in superconducting circuit architectures — driving scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing for the future of compute and national security. #QuantumComputing
Atlantic Quantum is leveraging a first principles approach to build scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computers. Its mission is to allow commercial and national security end-users to experience quantum computing without compromising on clock speed, errors, or scalability. From the era of hand calculations to the advent of Von Neumann classical digital computers and the modern push for AI, access to increasing computational power defined by Moore’s Law has driven the pace of innovation and, by extension, economic growth. As classical computers reach the end of Moore's Law, the next 50 years will be the realm of quantum computing. Atlantic Quantum is pioneering a superconducting circuit architecture based on fluxonium qubits, which enables higher operational fidelities and more scalable control methods compared to incumbent approaches. Compared to these brute-force scaling paths, Atlantic Quantum’s architecture allows it to achieve improved performance at reduced cost – critical milestones for fulfilling the societal and economic promises of utility-scale quantum computing. Led by Co-Founder & CEO Bharath Kannan, Atlantic Quantum is spun out of Professor Will Oliver's group at the MIT Center for Quantum Engineering and is headquartered in Cambridge, MA. The company also has access to world-class chip fabrication capabilities at the Chalmers University of Technology. Rounding out the co-founding team are Tim Menke, Simon Gustavsson, Youngkyu Sung, Leon Ding and Jonas Bylander. MassVentures is proud to support Atlantic Quantum and is excited to be part of their journey. Learn more about this startup’s groundbreaking innovation at https://lnkd.in/eGignfZK. Congratulations to Christopher Ayala and his co-authors on winning the prestigious 2023 Van Duzer Prize Award from the IEEE Council on Superconductivity! 🏆 Their outstanding work, "Results From the ColdFlux Superconductor Integrated Circuit Design Tool Project," showcases groundbreaking advancements in superconductor electronic design automation (S-EDA) tools and design libraries to support the development of next generation ultra-low-power superconductor integrated circuits. Over five and a half years, the ColdFlux project has truly pushed the boundaries in digital and analog design, resulting in a powerful suite of open-source and commercial tools that set a new standard in the field. As a former full-time professor at Yokohama National University, Chris played a pivotal role in this collaborative effort, which brought together academic groups from around the globe. We are proud to have Chris as part of the Atlantic Quantum team enabling a step change in global computing capabilities by developing scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computers. Congratulations again to Chris and the team for this well-deserved recognition! Your dedication and pioneering spirit continue to inspire the entire community. 🌍👏 Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/eebRkFgQ #QuantumComputing #Quantum #Innovation #ToughTech #Hiring

🤝 We are excited to announce our collaboration with Riverlane! Through this partnership, we will integrate Riverlane's quantum error correction software stack with our high-fidelity qubit chips to continue setting the bar for low error rates. 🎯 “Quantum error correction is the only way to enable sustained quantum computation and is foundational to all useful applications,” said our Co-Founder & CEO Bharath Kannan. However, QEC remains a challenge due to the high-fidelity quantum operations required in the correction scheme. 🎯 Atlantic Quantum is building fault-tolerant quantum computers using a superconducting fluxonium qubit architecture. Since spinning out of MIT Prof. Will Oliver’s lab, we have repeatedly set world records for low error rates – a critical milestone for building commercially relevant quantum computers. 💬 Steve Brierley, Riverlane's Founder & CEO, said: “In Atlantic Quantum, we’ve found a partner with the same long-held view as us that we need quantum error correction to achieve fault-tolerance in quantum computing. However, this partnership also recognises that this challenge can’t be solved in isolation, and progress depends on close collaboration between players across the quantum stack. The team at Atlantic Quantum has already done excellent work in building a hardware architecture with such a low error rate, and we’re excited to see how integrating our quantum error correction stack will help advance progress even further.” 📎 Read more about our collaboration in this piece by Linnea Ahlgren (TNW): https://lnkd.in/eA95Egx3 #quantum #quantumcomputing #quantumerrorcorrection #quantumpartnerships
