A small tool is making a big impact for service technicians! Norway-based service technician Tor Vidar Rørmark (pictured) and his team realised that installing the washing collar on the VMS™ milking robot was tricky. So, they decided to find a solution! After several months of trial and error, the screwdriver was replaced with a simple but highly effective plastic tube. “The plastic tube made the job much easier and, importantly, saved us time,” says Tor Vidar. The plastic tube solution has now been replaced with a stainless T-pipe that we already had in our range—an upgrade that offers greater durability and reduces plastic waste. "It was a perfect fit for this tool," says Ian Vila, Product Specialist. Now, DeLaval plans to roll out this time-saving tool to service technicians. Being in the field helps service technicians generate great ideas, which we always encourage, as innovation and development are central to DeLaval's success. Günter Schlaiss, Product Area Manager, On-Farm Services says: "Thanks to Tor Vidar's initiative, all DeLaval service technicians will soon be able to fit the wash collar quickly and easily. It not only saves time but also reduces frustration." #DeLaval #TeamBlue #Dairy #Cows #WeLiveMilk #Innovation

”There are many career development opportunities” Jana Höppner, Manager of Facility & Maintenance Services, was seeking a new challenge. This led her to join DeLaval in 2017, where site management is a key focus of her daily work. "I had never heard of DeLaval before a colleague approached me about the job vacancy. I did some research and found both the company and the offered job interesting, where I would get the chance to manage a team of people, which made me change jobs,” she says. A workday for Jana is never the same – which is something she enjoys. Jana and her team ensure a smooth and safe running of the Gallin site. Key responsibilities include health and safety, regulatory compliance, risk and environmental management, contract management, as well as maintenance and repair. “I appreciate the opportunities we have to expand our knowledge and learn new skills here at DeLaval. One of the most rewarding courses I have attended was the Advanced Leadership Program to improve my leadership skills. During that training that was held digitally only, I got to meet colleagues from across the globe and learn new tricks and share experiences," Jana says. Throughout her time in the company, Jana has gained a lot of new experiences and skills. “One of the key takeaways from my time in the company is that there is a healthy and positive culture here. We have an open door policy where all employees can feel safe to ask anyone for help or advice. This policy is something that I have experienced myself in a very positive way and it gave me a good start on my career in DeLaval. This is not something you see everywhere, so I appreciate it a lot. Also, the room for development and many career opportunities in the company. Anyone who joins DeLaval can look forward to a workplace with varying job tasks along with solid support from training and colleagues,” Jana says. #PeopleOfDeLaval Read the full story here: https://ow.ly/x4FZ50THzbA

What a week the North American team had at the World Dairy Expo (WDE) 2024 in Madison, Wisconsin. This year, the event—a highlight of the Americas’ dairy calendar—which ran from October 1-4, was all about celebrating ‘The Golden Age’. It did that by really showcasing cutting-edge technology. One great, recently launched example of a new technology is the Milk Sustainability Center (MSC), a joint partnership between John Deere and DeLaval. This year, the Knowledge Nook sessions at WDE shone a spotlight on how MSC aims to optimise nutrient use efficiency (NUE) and reduce CO2 emissions. Head to the MSC’s webpage - https://ow.ly/uSTY50TGylK - to find out more. The benefits of technology to the farming industry were further showcased when Gavin Strang, VP of Market Development & Solution Support, DeLaval, joined a panel of producers to discuss ‘Optimising Dairy Efficiency with AI’—a discussion that centred on how AI is transforming dairy farming across North America. McCarty Family Farms demonstrated the practical benefits of innovative solutions when they joined us to showcase their award-winning farm, which prioritises sustainability. The McCartys manage 37,000 cows across their sites, with 19,000 being milked, and have two 120-stall DeLaval E500 rotaries at their latest dairy operation. Check out their impressive operation in the virtual tour here: https://ow.ly/bWFk50TGx8Z To cap off the week, our Drinks and Thinks networking event brought veterinarians, nutritionists, and producers together for engaging discussions and hands-on experiences with our latest innovations—Evanza, Behaviour Analysis, VMS V310, and more! Thank you to everyone who joined us - the future of farming is looking bright! DeLaval has released Titan™: a game-changing teat disinfectant for automated spray systems that combines the convenience of a spray application with film-forming protection. This is an exciting development for the dairy industry, as Titan is DeLaval’s first teat spray to use this advanced technology, and one of the first of its kind on the market! Titan represents a significant advancement in udder health management. Its innovative film-forming technology creates a barrier film on the teats, helping to protect against environmental pathogens like S. uberis and E. coli – prevalent causes of mastitis. Delivered in an easy-to-use spray format, this advanced barrier offers longer-lasting physical protection compared to most other sprays, helping to maintain optimal udder health and reduce the risk of contamination. Nicky Oelbrandt, Cluster Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Lead for Udder Health Solutions, DeLaval, highlights the significance of Titan: “This product is engineered to meet the demands of modern dairy operations. The spray enables quick application while ensuring even distribution across the teat surface, thereby maximising the effectiveness of protection. Until now, most teat sprays used in robots have been short-acting contact sprays that do not provide a long-lasting physical barrier. It is this unique combination of a barrier and spray functionality that sets this product apart. By providing extended protection, Titan not only helps support better herd health but also aids in enhancing overall productivity. Our slogan captures its essence: ‘Robots love it. Cows love it. You’ll love it.’” Nathalie Albrecht, Product Manager for Udder Health Solutions, Milk Quality and Animal Health, Market Area EMEA, DeLaval, adds: “Titan underscores DeLaval’s commitment to developing reliable tools for controlling udder infection causing pathogens. After extensive research and development, Titan has proven its effectiveness with automatic spray systems, including the DeLaval VMS™ milking robot and the DeLaval teat spray robot (TSR) systems. It addresses the crucial need for effective post-milking protection. We look forward to seeing the positive impact Titan will have on dairy farms globally.” It's already been tested and approved by various farms across Europe. Feedback from users highlights its excellent coverage, economical use, and effectiveness in reducing somatic cell counts. Anki and Magnus Sandin from Isakgården Holstein in Älvsbyn, Sweden, who manage a dairy farm with 135 cows, share their experience: "We have tried a lot of different sprays. We were struggling with a high cell count of 226,000. Our DeLaval technician advised us to use Titan, and after three weeks, our cell count dropped to 150,000!” Watch their testimonial video - https://ow.ly/bSFS50TFlek * Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use. #DeLaval #TeamBlue #DairyIndustry

Today John Deere and DeLaval launch the Milk Sustainability Center, an innovative digital ecosystem designed to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of dairy farming operations. With the dairy industry facing evolving sustainability standards and stricter regulations, the Milk Sustainability Center offers a solution by integrating data on crop and animal performance into one unified platform. Developed through a joint effort initiated in September 2023, the Milk Sustainability Center integrates data on crop and animal performance into a unified tool, aiming to empower farmers to optimise their operations, reduce environmental impact, and meet the growing demands for sustainable practices in dairy farming. Dairy farmers can use the Milk Sustainability Center to monitor NUE (nutrient use efficiency) and CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) across their farm, herd, and fields. It collects animal and crop data, providing insights to help farmers manage nutrient utilisation effectively and reduce the need for manual data input. Farmers can also invite their consultants, dealers, vets and other partners to access the platform. A cloud-based solution, it is accessible on both desktop and mobile devices and can be used by dairy farmers regardless of their farm machinery brands, milking equipment brands, or herd management software. It is now available as a free version to a select number of dairy farmers in the USA, Netherlands, and Germany, with plans to expand to other European countries soon. Users will be added steadily before the full release. Dairy farmers can join the waiting list by heading to https://lnkd.in/d2c-FnVh Alexander Berges, Production System Manager at John Deere says: “The Milk Sustainability Center is designed to help dairy farmers meet their goals and address the growing demands from dairy processors, retailers, government, and consumers. The future addition of the benchmarking and recommendations functionality will help farmers be more profitable while improving their sustainability.” Lars Bergmann, Executive Vice President of Digital Service at DeLaval, explains, “Dairy farming involves using multiple, unconnected software solutions.
