Hear our co-founder Marcus sharing his insights on Cure Media's podcast! He discusses the increasing importance of data-driven decisions in e-commerce and how they shape profitable growth. We might be biased, but this is important stuff for everyone in retail:)
In this weeks episode of Influencer Marketing Talks, we sit down with Marcus Tagesson, founder of Babyshop and now CEO of Dema. Marcus shares his journey from building Babyshop into a leading baby retail brand to launching Dema, a platform that turns e-commerce data into actionable insights, helping teams make faster, data-driven decisions across everything from marketing to inventory. Further we dive into the future of AI in e-commerce, common misconceptions around KPIs and key strategies for achieving sustainable, profitable growth. ✨ Key Takeaways from Today's CFO-Forum ✨ Theme: Forecasting & Budgeting 📈 No matter your industry—whether online or offline retail—some truths remain universal: 1️⃣ Annual budgets ...often feel like a necessary evil to show investors or the board while setting high-level targets. But the real game-changer? Actionable and rolling forecasts keep you agile and help you hit the targets when they matter most. 2️⃣ Cash flow, profitability, and growth ...are influenced by an overwhelming number of factors, but how you act on those constantly shifting drivers is what really makes a difference. 3️⃣ Balancing detail with flexibility is key ...too much detail can slow you down, and agility is crucial. 4️⃣ Focus on your strategic "must-wins" and daily improvements ...instead of obsessing over perfect forecasts. More time executing means better results. 5️⃣ Pro-tip: Use at least 12-24 month forecast graphs to track your key KPIs. Beware of sudden performance jumps—it’s a red flag for unrealistic assumptions (a classic example: a sudden spike in basket size growth has been factored in to hit the targets). 💡 Want to explore these insights further and network with other CFOs? Don’t miss next month’s meetup—reach out to Jennie Sahl or Henrik Hoffman Kraft at Dema! Special thanks to Erik Pettersson (Omniarch) for sharing experiences, thoughts, and ideas on this topic. 🙏 And as always, a huge thank you to all participants! Nick Mendola, Philip Leijon (MEDS Apotek), Erik Elveros (Apohem), Emma Axelsson (Proteinbolaget.se), Sandra Gestlöf (Rapunzel of Sweden), Ellen Linné (Xlash), Elin Björnström (Lexington Company AB), Cecilia Tillberg (Nordic Knots), Mattias Berg (ASKET), Daniel Ohlsson (MORJAS)

A big thank you to Breakit for hosting such a valuable day for the Nordic e-commerce community! Incredible insights and stories from the founders of Ninepine (Kousha Torabi and Benjamin Lau ), John Henric (John Henric Ekström), Boxbollen (Jacob Eriksson and Victor Eriksson), and KitchenTime (Joel Falck). Each shared inspiring journeys, embracing an increasingly common, honest, and vulnerable approach within the e-commerce industry. Much appreciated! We were thrilled to take the stage (Marcus Tagesson) alongside our customer, the e-commerce rocket ship Ridestore, with CEO Elin Glommen Liljedahl, who highlighted the transformative power of having accessible, high-quality data and insights across the organization. Additionally, our Marketing Measurement expert, Jessika Ödling, led two roundtables, discussing the challenges and opportunities we see in today's e-commerce industry—particularly in knowing what drives incremental, profitable growth through marketing.

So much going on right now! Earlier this week, we hosted a group from The Wharton School Executive MBA Program, including Professor Peter Fader, a leading voice on customer centricity. 🌟 Such a pleasure having so many talented people from companies like Amazon, Google, and Uber (and many less famous ones to outsiders) in our office! Our co-founder, David Feldell, shared how we drive profitable growth through data-driven insights for D2C and online retailers. By focusing on the right metrics, businesses can dedicate more time to acquiring and retaining the right customers, with a sharp focus on incrementally growing customer lifetime value—based on profit, not gross sales. Thank you to Professor Fader and the entire group for visiting us—it was an honor to exchange ideas and explore new dimensions of customer centricity together! #Ecommerce #CustomerLifetimeValue #Profitability #LTV #CLV #Wharton
