Representatives from Diaverum’s Medical and Nursing management teams came together recently for the 2024 Annual Medical Meeting. The two-day event was held in #Madrid, #Spain - one of the largest markets across our global network - which also hosted this year’s Diaverum Awards Finalists’ Ceremony. Inspiring discussions at the Annual Medical Meeting 2024 in Madrid 💡   On October 16-17, we gathered with Country Medical Directors, Country Nursing Directors, and key clinical leaders from Diaverum’s global medical teams, for meaningful & impactful discussions.   During these two days, we explored crucial topics such as precision medicine, social determinants of health, and innovative strategies for improving patient care. A highlight was the active participation of all 24 countries in our network, each presenting new opportunities to enhance clinical outcomes and diversify our services.   We were also delighted to have colleagues from M42 participating: Vidya Velagapudi, Ph.D and Adam Griffiths delivered two highly interesting conferences, and while Dr. Fahed Al Marzooqi, Mohamed Alsaati, and Paula Gallent made valuable contributions to the discussions. A special thanks to Dimitris Moulavasilis for opening the Meeting delivering the opening conference and to Rafael Romanini for the closing, which he did together with me.   The diverse perspectives shared opened up exciting new avenues for growth and collaboration, and These exchanges reaffirmed Diaverum’s commitment to #Truecare & and our ongoing efforts to advance #lifeenhancingrenalcare globally.   A special thanks to our Spanish team Diaverum España, led by José María Ordóñez Martí-Aguilar, Shaira Martinez Vaquera, and Mari Paz Sorribes, for their gracious hospitality and ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees in Madrid.   Thank you to everyone who contributed to these important conversations. Exciting news in the world of kidney and cardiovascular health - a groundbreaking five-year study from the University of Texas has revealed that dietary interventions significantly reduced cardiovascular risk in persons with chronic kidney disease not treated with dialysis. Key findings: - Consuming 2-4 cups of base-producing fruits and vegetables daily significantly improved kidney health compared to standard medical care. - This dietary approach showed benefits for both kidney and heart health. - The study challenges current norms, advocating for dietary changes as initial steps in hypertension management. This research aligns with the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet, long recommended in clinical practice. The 2024 Diaverum Awards Finalists Ceremony is taking place tomorrow in Madrid! ⌛ 🏆   While we wait to find out who will take this year’s trophies home, we could not be prouder to share the story of our 2023 Winner, Cañete Clinic, Diaverum Chile.   Last year, the Cañete Clinic team were recognised for their exceptional team work and life-saving efforts, when they immediately responded to patients and their loved ones following a serious emergency outside their clinic. Diaverum’s value of Inspiration is what drives us to innovate, and to ensure that the work we do remains at the forefront of renal care. Last year’s Diaverum Awards saw two of our colleagues recognised as the embodiment of these behaviours; Raúl Orihuela, Nurse with Diaverum España, was one of them. Raúl created the "Caregiver School" - a unique initiative in Spain that is comprised of a CKD-specific health literacy programme for caregivers and of patient relatives. In leading by example and daring to dream, he showcased how we can provide care to the highest possible standards, while continuously finding ways to deliver better than ever before.
