An interesting article by McKinsey & Company outlining the bright future ahead for the Cement/Concrete industries as they leverage Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) and other fillers to decarbonize their products and achieve sustainability and cost competitive advantages and eventually sustain their licenses to operate. What isn't mentioned though, is that harnessing these new materials require cement and concrete producers to adopt new technology like alcemy's in order to fully characterise the properties of SCMs and more importantly, to predict these properties in the performance of the cement and its various applications in concrete form.

Greetings from Mallorca 🇪🇸! I’m charging the body, mind and soul before some exciting strategy sessions with one of my dear Double Loop Consulting (2x Loop Consulting AB) Customers 💚

Yesterday I attended the book presentation "Generative AI for Managers" (coming in 2025) by Elisa Farri and Gabriele Rosani at AVT Business School. It was a very insightful masterclass: Only 15% of Managers use Gen AI daily. We should use it daily to make it a habit and develop a Gen AI-first mindset. This will differentiate leaders that will continue to grow from those who don't. Most people use Gen AI today as a productivity assistant (provide answers, execute tasks), but there is a lot of value to untap by using Gen AI as a "co-thinker" and "augment our thought process". To "co-think" with Gen AI, means to have active two-way dialogue with the machine. This means providing context, making explicit the expectations of the outcome, challenge the initial responses, giving feedback and challenging the AI model. There are several traps to avoid when using Gen AI, most of which can be tackled by applying good judgement (at invidual, and team/organizational level) There's no doubt Gen AI is already changing and will continue to transform the way we work. But my main reflection is that Gen AI will not replace, but enhance the value of our work.
