  • Radiographers at Royal Preston Hospital (Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) have been enjoying the unique design features of Elekta Harmony, innovations that not only enhance the patient’s treatment experience, but that also make their workday easier and more productive. “If someone at another radiotherapy department asked me if they should acquire a Harmony, there wouldn’t be any reluctance at all for me to say yes straight away,” says Gillian Clarkson, radiotherapy service manager. “For me, the patient benefits of Harmony alone would the ultimate selling point, but you can’t underestimate the major advantages for the staff and the department.” Read how they're using Harmony ➡️ https://bit.ly/4iwhJeJ

Patients with rectal cancer often need a permanent colostomy or suffer from LARS syndrome, a major quality-of-life detractor. However, clinicians at Radiation Oncology Tübingen and other centers are helping more patients avoid surgery by using their Elekta Unity MR-Linac to apply a precise high-dose boost to conventional chemoradiation to increase clinical complete response rates as part of a new trial. #colorectalcancerawarenessmonth

  • Clinical evidence of HDR Prostate #Brachytherapy is shifting the landscape in Canada and worldwide. This targeted therapy is gaining traction as both monotherapy and as a boost for high-risk and unfavorable intermediate-risk prostate cancer. HDR brachytherapy as a boost after EBRT (external beam radiation therapy) has risen significantly as a trend in Ontario. Simultaneously, radical prostatectomies have decreased, thanks to evidence-based guidelines recommending brachytherapy for high-risk cases. Historically, urologists favored prostatectomy over brachytherapy due to perceived side effects. However, Odette Cancer Centre now emphasizes multi-disciplinary assessments, where 70% of patients opt for radiation therapy. Brachytherapy is making waves, offering precision and safety for #prostatecancer patients. Read the article from Gerard Morton ➡️ https://bit.ly/42ADapK

  • For the past three and a half years, radiation oncologists at Fortis Healthcare's Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh have used Elekta's Active Breathing Coordinator to simplify respiratory motion management, particularly for breast malignancies. “I have always been passionate about treating breast cancer patients with breath-hold based radiation therapy. My colleagues and I find ABC to be a very robust, patient-friendly system, and the patient treatment setup using ABC very reproducible,” says Dr. Vineeta Goel, Fortis Hospital’s Senior Director & Head of Radiation Oncology.
