  • Digital transformation sounds great — until you try to do it. Many businesses still print, sign, and scan critical trade documents. But moving to digital doesn't have to be complicated. In this episode of In the Car with Aneel, we talk about how to digitalise trade processes without disrupting operations. What’s the biggest blocker to digitalisation in your opinion?

💡 Rethinking electronic trade documents: the era of “digital paper”? True digitisation in trade isn’t just about converting one or two document types - it requires a fundamental shift towards fully digital workflows across all documents. But achieving this shift isn’t straightforward. A key challenge has been finding a way to combine the flexibility and familiarity of paper with the security and efficiency of digital formats - without compromising on either. 🤔 What if, instead of relying on isolated digital systems that represent documents – Bill of Lading systems, Bill of Exchange systems – we started thinking in terms of agreeing on a common approach to creating "digital paper". A format that behaves like paper, is legally robust, and effortlessly understood by both humans and machines - while eliminating the inefficiencies of physical documents. Unlike traditional digital solutions, it is not bound to exist within a single system but can move freely between parties, just like physical paper. A document that can be issued, verified, and transferred seamlessly. A document that requires no onboarding for recipients, yet maintains full control and auditability. A document that integrates with existing standards, structured data, and electronic signatures - without forcing users into closed systems. This document could be seen as a mobile API – the structured data isn’t locked inside a system but can be directly extracted from the document itself, eliminating the need to log in and fetch data from a system API. It would work with existing processes, allowing organisations to start with digital workflows within their current setup. No need for large IT projects, system integrations, or extensive training - just a simple, fast, and easy way to digitise document handling today, while paving the way for more automation in the future. Wouldn’t that be great? Well, this isn’t only a vision for the future; it’s already possible today. What if this way of thinking became more widely adopted – where documents themselves carry the necessary data, verification information, and audit trail, while only cryptographic references for each version are stored in a distributed ledger? A model where verification can be done by any system, without relying on shifting technical formats for interoperability? Rather than waiting for complex integrations or new system dependencies, organisations can start adopting this approach today. The real challenge now is simply to take the first step - integrating these capabilities into existing workflows and building momentum towards a truly digital trade ecosystem. At Enigio, we’ve been working on this problem for years, and while the market is still in the early stages of fully leveraging the potential of digital trade, it’s encouraging to see more and more organisations embracing this approach. ➡️ Make the future today! #DigitalTransformation #TradeDigitisation #ElectronicTradeDocuments #DigitalPaper

  • Still handling documents like it’s the 19th century? Trade should be seamless, but paper-based processes slow it down, drive up costs, and harm the planet. Meanwhile, digitalisation could: ✅ Cut transaction costs by up to 80% ✅ Unlock $267 billion in economic growth for G7 economies ✅ Reduce the $2.5 trillion trade finance gap by nearly half ✅ Save millions of trees every year The tools, frameworks, and momentum for digital trade are already here. So why are we still stuck with paper? Read our CEO Patrik Zekkar’s article in ICC’s Trade for Prosperity magazine to explore how we can finally break the paper barrier. 📖 Page 114: https://lnkd.in/dcSc_uam

  • Not another trade platform... We get it. The market is full of solutions claiming to be ‘the future of trade’. But here’s what actually makes trace:original different: – It’s not a platform — it’s a solution – It works with any document type, any counterparty, no lock-ins – It’s fully compliant with MLETR and global trade laws In this episode of In the Car with Aneel, he breaks it down. Hit play to see why this changes the game. 🎥 #TradeTech #Fintech

There are basic practices and procedures in the analogue paper trade world, established by years of learnings. Going digital paperless trade does not mean to disrupt the industry. But to replicate these global practices and procedures, which served us well, and make them better, faster, safer and more resiliant. 🦾🦾

  • Tomorrow our Director Gunnar Collin will take the stage at the BAFT Europe Bank to Bank Forum in Amsterdam, joining industry leaders to tackle a question that won’t go away: What’s really holding trade finance digitalisation back? Full, end-to-end digital interoperability is now possible — not just for closed platforms, but for everyone. So what’s the next step? Join the conversation and let’s break the barriers together. See you there! 📅 BAFT (Bankers Association for Finance and Trade) Europe Bank to Bank Forum 📍 Amsterdam 🎤 Panel at 12:20 - 13:05

  • When Aneel Sabir first joined Enigio, some of us thought he might secretly be an Uber driver — he was always dialling into meetings from the car. 🤔 Turns out, he’s just a busy guy in Dubai. And we decided to go along for the ride. Welcome to "In the Car with Aneel" — a series where our Director of MENA breaks down the real challenges of trade digitalisation. First up: Why openness matters. Many solutions lock you into a closed system — but what if you had full control? With trace:original, there are no walled gardens. No restrictions. Just a fully open, interoperable digital document solution. Watch the first episode and let us know — how important is openness in digital trade for you?

  • Are you tired of talking about MLETR? We get it. But did you know many corporates still haven’t even heard of MLETR or the ETDA? There’s a huge awareness gap — one that won’t close on its own. During our “Demystifying MLETR” webinar, we learned just how vital concise, repeatable messaging is for educating corporates — especially when backed by real examples. Awareness and education are key to unlocking the full potential of digitisation and electronic negotiable instruments. How do you think we can spread the word more effectively and accelerate global adoption? Share your thoughts below!

Real digital trade requires structured data, automation and seamless consuming and processing of the document’s data points. That’s the shift we’re driving with trace:original, keep the standard and enable seamless data management.🦾🦾

  • Paper belongs in art class, not in trade finance in 2025. 🎨📄 In a world where everything is digital, why is trade finance still stuck with paper? Director Ulf Eggefors called a young talent at an Enigio client and asked if she uses paper anywhere else in her life. Her answer? "Nope, just at work, and my kids' school drawings." It’s time to bring trade into the digital era. If we want to attract the next generation, we need to leave outdated processes behind.
