A few days of inspiration and learnings from the #ClimateWeekNYC 🌱 Flower’s Hampus Jildenbäck joined the climate conversation at New York’s Climate Week 2024, setting up the agenda for #COP29 together with the Swedish business delegation, and pushing for green financial products in the energy market. Some important takeaways from the week: 🌎 The United States is demonstrating a strong commitment to investing in solutions that accelerate the energy transition, with both government and private funds directed toward climate tech innovation. In contrast, Europe has not matched this momentum, where there is still much to learn and improve to ensure resources are allocated more effectively to where they are most needed. 🌎 Decentralizing the electricity system is crucial for enabling grid efficiency. Similar to Europe, the hot topic in the US is about the need for physical grid expansion vs. utilizing the current grid more efficiently. This is a challenge we’re facing globally, and it takes government intervention to secure the right regulations and legislations. Could the renewable energy market learn from big oil? 💡 Flower’s founder and CEO John Diklev visited Europe’s premier flexible energy conference #Flexcon2024 in Amsterdam, discussing the need for a cost-efficient and stable energy system. One way of getting there, he says, includes learning from what the oil and gas industry has been incredibly good at for 150 years – building a money-making system that capitalizes on financial constructs like insurances, hedges and marketplaces to reach its goals. 📈 “Both from a financing and engineering perspective, big oil has been remarkable in how they have supplied society with energy.
